ABSTRACTModels of the human respiratory tract developed in the past were based on measurements made on human tracheobronchial airways of healthy subjects. With the exception of a few morphometric characteristics such as the bronchial wall thickness (WT), very little has been published concerning the effects of disease on the tree structure and geometrical features. In this study, a commercial software package was used to segment the airway tree of seven healthy and six moderately persistent asthmatic patients from high resolution computed tomography images. The process was assessed with regards to the treatment of the images of the asthmatic group. The in vivo results for the bronchial length, diameter, WT, branching, and rotation angles are reported and compared per generation for different lobes. Background : Anti-CCP is a test commonly used for the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. The aim of this study was to determine the diagnostic values of ACCP compared to anti-MCV in rheumatoid arthritis patients in north of Iran. Methods: The serum samples of 150 RA patients and 75 controls, with the mean age of 49.6+11.8 and 48.8+12 years respectively, were tested using the commercially available ELISA kits for ACCP and anti-MCV. Sensitivity, Specificity were determined and Roc curve were used for comparison between these two groups. Results: The sensitivity of ACCP versus anti-MCV was 85% and 81%, respectively. Specificity was 96% and 95%, respectively. In the RA patients, ACCP was positive in 127 (84.7%) and anti MCV in 121 (80.7%) cases. In the control group, these parameters were positive in 3 (4%) and 4 (5.3%) (p<0.0001 and p<0.0001, respectively). The correlation coefficient for ACCP and anti-MCV was calculated at 0.63 (p<0.001). The area under the curve for ACCP was 0.941±0.015 (p<0.001), anti-MCV was 0.902±0.02 (p<0.001). The measure of agreement (Kappa) for these variables was 0.81. In these patients, there was no correlation between DAS28 and the positivity of these tests. Conclusion: It was concluded, compared to ACCP, anti-MCV has approximately the same accuracy for the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis and it does not have additional value.

Este proyecto, consiste en el diseño y la implementación de un prototipo inhibidor de señales de celular para un salón de clases y así, evitar el plagio académico por medio de la red celular. Existen varias técnicas para realizar un Jammer, nombre con el cual también se conocen los inhibidores, siendo la técnica de inhibición por ruido la más conveniente debido a la gran dificultad para tener acceso a la información técnica necesaria de la señal a inhibir; los aspectos necesarios para poder ejecutar esta técnica son: conocer los rangos de frecuencia donde opera la señal objetivo y disponer de un analizador de espectros. Por último, se logró desarrollar un prototipo inhibidor de celulares con un comportamiento efectivo dentro de un radio de 3 metros a la redonda, se aclara que por fuera de este rango (3 a 10 metros de radio) también se impide la comunicación pero la inhibición no es tan efectiva, sólo degrada la calidad de la señal.

For the first time, the RF performance analysis of a V-shaped grooved (V-GG) Gate MOSFET has been presented and compared with the trapezoidal groove gate (TGG) and rectangular groove gate (RGG) MOSFETs, using ATLAS-3D device simulator, for future wireless and ULSI applications. The study reveals that V-GG MOSFET exhibits significantly enhanced performance as compared to its conventional counterparts in terms of the figure of merits (FOM): drain current, transconductance (gm), cut-off frequency (ft), maximum transducer power gain, stern stability factor (K), and, S-parameters.

During biologics development, it is important to demonstrate that a bioprocess is efficient in removing HCPs and that it provides consistent control of HCP levels. Several techniques are typically used for detection, quantitation, and risk evaluation of HCPs in biologics. The most common are enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs), Western blotting, sodium-dodecylsulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), and chromatographic separation methods (1). Full movement of the vocal cords is necessary for life sustaining functions. To enable correct diagnosis of reduced vocal cord motion and thereby potentially enhance treatment outcomes, it is proposed to objectively determine the degree of vocal cord paralysis in contrast to the current clinical practice of subjective evaluation. Our study shows that quantitative assessment can be achieved using optical flow based motion estimation of the opening and closing movements of the vocal cords. The novelty of the proposed method lies in the automatic processing of fibre-optic endoscopy videos to derive an objective measure for the degree of paralysis, without the need for high-end data acquisition systems such as high speed cameras or stroboscopy. Initial studies with three video samples yield promising results and encourage further investigation of vocal cord paralysis using this technique.

Purpose:Metallic implants may cause serious tissue heating during magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. This heating occurs due to the induced currents caused by the radio‐frequency (RF) field. Much work has been done to date to understand the relationship between the RF field and the induced currents. Most of these studies, however, were based purely on experimental or numerical methods. This study has three main purposes: (1) to define the RF heating properties of an implant lead using two parameters; (2) to develop an analytical formulation that directly explains the relationship between RF fields and induced currents; and (3) to form a basis for analysis of complex cases.Methods:In this study, a lumped element model of the transmission line was modified to model leads of implants inside the body.
