Negotiation, an important facet of business, is an iterative and complex process. Depending on the nature of business and the type of transaction, negotiation criteria, duration and complexity vary widely. An intelligent software agent can help the consumers and enterprises in business negotiation. It can negotiate with humans or with other software agents to arrive at mutually agreeable terms and

The Job selection process in today's global economy can be a daunting task for prospective employees no matter their experience level. It involves a detailed search of newspapers, job websites, human agents, etc, to identify an employment opportunity that is perceived compatible to abilities, anticipated remuneration and social needs. Search sites such as Seek, Academickeys.com, Careerbuilder.com, Job-hunt.org, Monster.com, etc allow prospective employees to register online and search and apply for employment. However most do very little to profile employers against employees or even attempt to confirm the validity of the data submitted by prospective employees. Also no information exists on feedback of the employer too on various criteria submitted by employees. Taking all these into consideration we here have proposed an intelligent agent (instead of the human agent) to perform the same search operations by interacting with the employer and job search coordinator agents. The proposed solution would involve the creation of an applicant, job search and employer agents that would use fuzzy preference rules to make a proper decision in getting a list of jobs based on the user's search criteria and also feed the rating of the employer based on feedback submitted by the past & current employees which is unique and first of its kind. All results applicable are organized based on a dynamic calculation of expected utility from highest to lowest and displayed as the job search listing. The system would use ANDROID 2.2, JADE-LEAP and the Google API to provide a robust, user friendly solution.

Knowledge management (KM) represents a topic of considerable current interest. However, the majority of extant KM research treats knowledge as a static object that can be acquired, stored and retrieved through information technology. Two fundamental problems emerge from this current majority view: (1) many scholars view knowledge as distinct from information, and (2) very little attention is paid to the

This paper describes the application of an organic programming language Gaea in programming complex and flexible multi-agent systems. We consider a soccer game as an example. Using organic programming, we can program soccer players in an extended version of a subsumption architecture, called a dynamic subsumption architecture, which is more flexible and efficient than the original one

Also, there is the important question:what is the objective of creating interactive animatedagents? Although the technological aspects ofsuch agents have been studied and discussed in detail, this critical question has rarely been discussed. In thelatter part of this paper, we will discuss what

Belief-Desire-Intention (BDI) model is well suited for describing agent’s mental state. The BDI of an agent represents its motivational stance and are the main determinant of agent’s actions. Therefore, explicit understanding of the representation and modelling of such motivational stance plays a central role in designing BDI agent with successful behavioural change interventions. Nevertheless, existing BDI agent models do not represent agent’s behavioural factors explicitly. This leads to a gap between design and implementation where psychological reactance has being identified as the cause of BDI agent behavioural change interventions failure. Hence, this paper presents a generic representation of BDI agent model based on behavioural change and psychological theories. The objective of this proposed BDI agent model is to bridge the gap between agent design and implementation for successful agent-based interventions. The model will be realized in an agent-based application that motivates children towards oral hygiene.

In the health system inefficiency leads to poor use of scarce expensive resources. Lengthy patient treatment waiting time can result from inefficiency in scheduling. The use of state-of-the art multi-agent and distributed computing technologies can provide a solution to address this problem. However, distributed optimisation in such a multi-agent setting poses an important challenge that requires protocols to enable agents to optimise shared objectives without necessarily revealing all of their private constraints. In this study we show that if the problem is expressed as a Dynamic Distributed Constraint Optimisation Problem a powerful algorithm such as SBDO can be deployed to solve it. As SBDO can be deployed in a grid all of the advantages of grid computing are also gained.

This paper introduces AntNet, a new routing algorithm for telecommunication networks. AntNet is an adaptive, distributed, mobile-agents-based algorithm which was inspired by recent work on the ant colony metaphor. We apply AntNet in a datagram network and compare it with both static and adaptive state-of-the-art routing algorithms. We ran experiments for various paradigmatic temporal and spatial traffic distributions. AntNet showed both very good performances and robustness under all the experimental conditions with respect to its competitors.

In this paper, we propose a novel, secure, and intelligent IoT approach based on agent, we have implemented in the health care domain, where we developed an intelligent patient monitoring system for monitoring the patients heart rate automatically. Our system is more intelligent that can anticipate the critical condition before it even happens, send a message to the patient family, doctors, nurses, as well as hospital in-charge personal, and launch an alarm to be assisted by the nearest people in place. Also, our architecture ensures the authentication, authorization, and data sensing confidentiality. Hospitals and medical clinics can utilize our system to monitor their outpatients who are in danger of unpredictable health conditions. The approach presented in the paper can also be applied to other IoT domains.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are a fast-emerging area of interest in the domain of large-scale communication networks. However, design of novel WSN applications requires first developing models and performing extensive
simulation. Modern large-scale WSNs are expected to be both dynamic as well as random and often spread over a large scale. However, this problem has not previously been addressed in literature. In our previous works, we have demonstrated how Agent-based modeling may be used to effectively model various types of Complex Adaptive Systems such as, but not limited to, Self-organizing Communication infrastructures. In this paper, we present first steps towards providing a comprehensive set
of guidelines and tutorial for developing deployment models of WSNs besides modeling routing algorithms using agent-based modeling. Our simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and ease of use coupled with a short learning curve involved in developing agent-based models of complex WSN applications.

Decision making both on individual and organizational level is always accompanied by the search of other's opinion on the same. With tremendous establishment of opinion rich resources like, reviews, forum discussions, blogs, micro-blogs, Twitter etc provide a rich anthology of sentiments. This user generated content can serve as a benefaction to market if the semantic orientations are deliberated. Opinion mining and sentiment analysis are the formalization for studying and construing opinions and sentiments. The digital ecosystem has itself paved way for use of huge volume of opinionated data recorded. This paper is an attempt to review and evaluate the various techniques used for opinion and sentiment analysis.

Institutions of higher learning such as universities have been positively influenced by the internet which has facilitated learning and teaching. Likewise, this same internet can also support student lecturer appointments, but currently students and lecturers are faced with issues such as finding free timeslot, difficulty of students to meet supervisor and issues related to managing appointment operations. Therefore, this paper develops a multi-agent architecture and a web-based agent appointment scheduling system to support students and lecturers in managing appointment scheduling in universities. The agent-based appointment scheduling system was implemented as a web system integrated by multi-agents to facilitate students in finding available timeslot, resolving difficulty of students to meet supervisor and addressing difficult of managing scheduled appointment records by lecturers. The usefulness of the agent-based appointment scheduling system was evaluated by collecting data using questionnaire from randomly selected respondents. Furthermore, Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) was employed to analyse the questionnaire data using descriptive and exploratory factor analysis. Findings from the survey reveal that the developed agent-based appointment scheduling system practically supports students and lecturers in scheduling appointments.
