The purpose of this paper is to examine entrepreneurial competences among female entrepreneurs within the context of developed countries which have been greatly neglected in the same context of emerging economies. This empirical research is based on a survey of 301 micro and small enterprises located in Uasin Gishu County, Kenya, run by female entrepreneurs. Its focus is on the following entrepreneurial competences: the need for achievement, locus of control, tolerance of ambiguity, innovativeness, risk-taking propensity, self-efficacy, egoistic passion; goal setting; resilience; trustworthiness; emotional stability; and patience. In measuring entrepreneurial performance, the constructs of firm performance, development of personal wealth, and social performance were used. The findings show that a proper measurement instrument has been applied to check on the constructs of entrepreneurial competences and entrepreneurial performance. The paper makes a finding that entrepreneurial comp...

Traditionally, theories of innovation and entrepreneurship have concentrated on either environmental or dispositional variables to explain different rates and levels in entrepreneurial activity. However, these theories have unsuccessfully represented the complexity of human behavior actions involve the interaction of various environmental, cognitive, and behavioral variables. Recognizing this shortcoming and considering that contextual influences on entrepreneurial behavior in an emerging market context are rarely accounted for, this study empirically examined the degree to which individual-level variables of entrepreneurial alertness and self-efficacy interact with environmental dynamism and hostility to influence a firm’s entrepreneurial orientation. Appreciating the multiplicity of elements facing an entrepreneur who is trying to make sense of the external environment, the study surveyed 310 owner-mangers in South Africa and relied on SEM to determine the best model fit. The st...

This study analyzes the entrepreneurial profile of the individual as a determinant of the speed of internationalization of his business. Four aspects of cognitive profile were taken into
account: tolerance for ambiguity, proactivity, international orientation and perception of
risk. The time elapsed between the creation of the company and the date of first export represents the speed of internationalization. The latter will allow distinguishing between
traditional ventures and New International Ventures. The results obtained from a sample of
152 Tunisian SMEs highlighted several significant relations to explain that speed. This sample was divided into three groups: the non-exporters, the traditional exporters and “international exporters”. The results show that in all three groups, the international orientation of the respondents as measured by the number of languages spoken and level of education significantly influences the perception of risk and therefore the internationalization of SMEs. The proposed managerial implications aim to facilitate the internationalization of
their businesses.

Individual values' effect on the entrepreneurial
tendency is an important research topic in the field of
entrepreneurship. This research aims to investigate the
effect of individual values of business administration
students on their entrepreneurial tendency, and to
compare the effects of public and foundation university2
Business Administration students’ individual values on
their entrepreneurial tendency in Istanbul. Individual
values are measured through Schwartz Values Inventory
which has 58 items, and entrepreneurial tendency is
measured via a scale which has 50 items and is the
combination of four different scales developed by Yılmaz
and Sünbül (2009), Börü (2006), Bozkurt and Baştürk
(2011), and Bozkurt (n.d.). The research was conducted
at Istanbul University, Marmara University, Bogazici
University, Bahcesehir University, Istanbul Aydin
University, Istanbul Commerce University and Yeditepe
University with 504 final-year students studying at
Business Administration departments. As the result of
validity analyses, 6 factors for individual values scale were
identified, and 9 factors – for entrepreneurial tendency
scale. In the course of multiple linear regression analyses,
it is found that there is a significant effect of university
students’ some individual values on their entrepreneurial
tendency, and this effect partially differentiates between
public university students and foundation university
students.

Culture exists at multiple levels, ranging from bro ad societal or national cultures to individualized corporate or organizational cultures . Within an organization, culture serves the same function as personality does to the individual -a hidden yet unifying theme that provides meaning, direction, and mobilization. Research on c orporate entrepreneurship has identified cultural obstacles to successful entrepreneurship, and suggested that entrepreneurship requires a culture built around risk, innovation, emotional commitment, autonomy, and empowerment, among others. Individualism-collectivism is a dimen sion of culture at both the societal and organizational levels. Most of the studies focus on individualism as it has been linked to the willingness of people to violate norms and their le vel of achievement motivation, both of which are associated with entrepreneurship, and showed th at entrepreneurship declines the more collectivism is emphasized. Based on these theoreti cal conside...

Purpose – Scholars have focused their attention on the unique idea of entrepreneurial-orientation (EO), that has grabbed their interest due to its importance to an organization's success. This work presents a broad-spectrum view of the structure of research in EO with publications in the previous five years that combine bibliometric and distance-based visualization-of-similarity (VOS) analyses to find the most prestigious journals, authors, and articles for readers in the field. Design– The article makes use of the Scopus Core-collection, and the VOS-viewer. All documents relating to EO that are currently in the database between 2017 and 2021 are scanned for the study. Graphical visualization integrates both bibliographic coupling and co-citation details in the presentation of the data. Findings – Fluid phase equilibria, journal of business research, and proceedings of the international society for optical engineering (SPIE) are the most relevant journals in the field. Among the many important authors in the EO literature, key contributors are Kraus, S.; Hernández-Perlines, F., and Coutinho, J.A.P. Three different streams of research are linked to the EO concept. The highly-rated stream is business, management, and accounting, and the secondly ranked subject area is Engineering, whereas Economics, Econometrics, and Finance are ranked third based on the current studied time frame. Research implications – This research provides EO researchers with a more complete and objective knowledge structure evolution framework for the last five years, which is beneficial to the maturation of the entrepreneurship-oriented area. Originality/value – By combining bibliometric data with graphical networks, this article contributes to EO research by offering a worldwide picture of the concept's analysis covered in the studied duration

Strategy is not what it used to be. To compete effectively, large businesses must respond quickly, creatively and innovatively to develop an entrepreneurial environment to assist this response. Strategic leadership is crucial to develop the organizational environment needed to increase the entrepreneurial orientation in established businesses. The purpose of this paper is to determine if the salient organizational factors that aid in the development of the corporate entrepreneurship (CE) capability are applicable in the South African context. A cross sectional telephone survey of 315 South African companies indicated that strategic leadership of an enterprise is crucial to develop and support CE. Strategic leadership which encourages autonomy and provides rewards for entrepreneurial behaviour creates a supportive organizational structure to strengthen corporate entrepreneurship.

This study aims to examine the role of entrepreneurial orientation (entrepreneurship orientation) in innovation level among Small and Medium Size Enterprises (SMEs). A questionnaire survey was conducted among 137 firms in the Podlaskie Region. Three hypotheses related to entrepreneurial orientation and innovativeness level were examined by Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The relation between two constructs of entrepreneurial orientation and innovativeness, that is proactiveness and risk taking were analyzed. The research results show that proactiveness has a significant positive total effect on improving innovativeness. The findings suggest, in contrast to the strategic orientation literature, that risk taking deters enterprises from organizational innovation. The results confirmed the significantly higher impact of the risk taking as an intermediate variable on the innovation through the mediator of proactivity. This work examines the relations between entrepreneurial orientation and innovativeness, thus contributes to the strategic orientation literature.

Orientation: The South African economy and, in particular, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have shown uninspiring performance, reflected in low levels of job creation, worryingly low levels of total early-stage entrepreneurial activity and entrepreneurial employee activity (EEA). As SMEs are the innovation and growth engine of an economy, the poor EEA levels (0.7%) indicate lacklustre levels of innovation and intrapreneurial activity. Research purpose: This study aims to fill the void by assessing the effect of intrapreneurial orientation (IO) at the employee level on internal SME growth. Motivation for the study: Despite this bleak outlook, to date no study has attempted to determine the influence of an IO on SME growth metrics. Research design, approach and method: The study is quantitative in nature, using an adapted questionnaire and employing a random sampling approach. Data were analysed by means of factor, correlation and regression analyses. A total of 290 responses were received from SME employees across South Africa. Main findings: The empirical study showed that only risk-taking, innovativeness, personal control, self-esteem and certain managerial factors positively relate to the growth of an SME. Practical/managerial implications: The findings provide insights for managers within SMEs on improving employee entrepreneurial activity and growth rates, by means of focusing on growth-supportive IO interventions. Contribution/value-add: The findings of this research are beneficial to academia and industry as the framework and measuring instrument offer additional insights into IO within SMEs.

Objective – An urgency to investigate the impact of government policies on project performance through strategic management perspective is motivated by the gap of knowledge on a relationship between government policies and project. This paper proposes a conceptual model for further empirical research in the future. Six latent variables and ten hypotheses are developed through reviewing some literature in three following research avenues: Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management, and Project Management.
Methodology – In order to observe a logical fitness of model development on government policies influences to firm activities, a specific context is chosen, namely the Indonesian renewable energy power generation. The last research avenue is strongly related to the research context. Further empirical study is required, and a discussion on it is presented in this paper.
Findings – This paper emphasizes that project activities should be strategically managed since those support the achievement of business performance.
Novelty – The study will bring benefits to the three following aspects: theoretical, managerial and regulatory aspects.

This paper analyses the theory of entrepreneurial marketing (EM), its evolution, and dimensions which are available to measure the EM. The EM theory was developed as an interface between the two major disciplines' of marketing and entrepreneurship. Researchers, scholars, and academics have been debating and nourishing the theory of EM for thirty-year period. Initially it was considered as an ideal marketing concept and strategy to enrich marketing activities and business performance of small and medium scaled enterprises (SMEs). Today, as consumers, customers and marketers, we are living in one global village and experiencing different types of buying and selling patterns. This digital era facilitates us to experience the globalization and international marketing. So far, the global market is constituted with different types and sizes of business units and those business units together generate ultimate power to handle the market and its rivalry. At present it is being declared as an enthusiastic business development factor to reach progressive levels of business life cycles without considering the size of the business unit. The purpose of this paper is to analyze development of the theory of entrepreneurial marketing based on the past literature. It consists of three parts and basic information is described by the first part. Discussion of the development of EM theory and its dimensions are considered in the second part and the Conclusions of this study are presented in the third section.

Business performance plays an important role for the survival of a firm's operations. In relation to that, this study focuses on the aspect of business performance among co-operative firms. The objectives of this study are to measure the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation (independent variable) and market orientation and the participation of the members (moderators) toward business performance. The entrepreneurial orientation strategies consist of five constructs: innovativeness, proactiveness, risk-taking, autonomy and competitive aggressiveness, while market orientation involves three constructs: customer orientation, competitor orientation
and coordination between departments, and the participation of the members which contains one construct. This study involved a sample of 331 out of 2,561 micro-, small- and medium-sized co-operative f m s in the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia. A test on the hypotheses was conducted through multiple and hierarchical regression analysis. In the first step, the regression analysis results showed that three control variables, which included small-sized, medium-aged and young-aged firms influenced the business performance. Meanwhile, in the second step, the analysis revealed that two entrepreneurial orientation constructs: innovativeness (I3 = .072, p<.05) and proactiveness (13 = .082, p c.05) were directly and positively related to a higher business performance. Furthermore, the third step showed that only customer
orientation was significantly related to business performance. Lastly, the fourth step successfully traced the moderate interaction of the coordination between departments towards the relationship of risk-taking with business performance (13 = 2.526, p <.01) and autonomy with business performance (13 = -2161, p <.01). This study highlighted the positive role of innovativeness and proactiveness constructs in improving the business performance of the co-operative firms. In addition, this study also revealed the need to make alignments in firms' behavior of coordination between departments. This is caused by the results of moderate interaction which was significant but not parallel with each other; positive (with risk-taking and business
performance) and negative (with autonomy and business performance). The theoretical and management implications in detail as well as recommendations for future research are also discussed.

The researcher’s interest in the topic of entrepreneurial commitment was stimulated initially by theoretical and practical observations: What makes some entrepreneurs so highly committed to entrepreneurship and how might this sense of commitment be instilled in others? This doctoral thesis puts ‘commitment’ under the microscope, and intends to address the questions concerning entrepreneurial behavior, and leading to entrepreneurial success. The main emphasis of this thesis is to explore what entrepreneurial commitment is, how it is developed, and whether it can be profiled across entrepreneurial phases, levels of success, race and gender. To allow for a rigorous examination, a blend of two methodologies was utilized – the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis in Phase 1, and the Component-Based Structural Equation Modeling (CB-SEM) in Phase 2 of this research. In Phase 1, six successful entrepreneurs were interviewed using the phenomenological approach. In this phase, the first research objective was accomplished; a common conceptualization of commitment in the entrepreneur was established. ‘Commitment’ is seen as the force that binds the entrepreneur to his/her tasks and daily responsibilities, and that this ‘force’ affects goal achievement and performance in some way. This finding led to the construction of the conceptual Model of Entrepreneurial Commitment, which was then empirically tested using the CB-SEM approach in Phase 2. A questionnaire, the Entrepreneurial Commitment Metrics, was developed and distributed to entrepreneurs throughout Malaysia. 402 completed sets were returned and findings led to the accomplishment of the remaining three research objectives. This phase concluded with a comprehensive discussion on how entrepreneurial commitment is developed and how it is profiled across entrepreneurial phases, success levels, race and gender. This research holds that entrepreneurial commitment is shaped by the entrepreneur’s affective, normative and continuous commitments and is the force that binds and directs the entrepreneur to perform entrepreneurially. Passion, values and personality form the entrepreneur’s affective commitment, while internalized norms and the feelings of responsibility and righteousness form the entrepreneur’s normative commitment. Lack of alternatives and the magnitude of investments, form the entrepreneur’s continuous commitment. This thesis furthermore illustrates that commitment and motivation are distinct concepts in the entrepreneurial process. Another pioneering and enticing discovery reveals the magnitude of commitment and performance are at their highest in the growth phase of a business, in ‘above average’ successful entrepreneurs, in Chinese entrepreneurs, and in female entrepreneurs. These valuable findings demystify our understanding of entrepreneurial commitment in a Malaysian setting, and may allow for further efforts to nurture entrepreneurial commitment at a national level. The final chapter concludes with highlighted suggestions on these proposed efforts.
