Pronunciation is an integral part of foreign language learning since it directly affects learners' communicative competence as well as performance. Limited pronunciation skills can decrease learners' self-confidence, restrict social interactions, and negatively affect estimations of a speaker's credibility and abilities. The current focus on communicative approaches to EFL pronunciation learning and the concern for building communication skills are renewing interest in the role that pronunciation plays in EFL learners' overall communicative competence. The goals of this paper are to identify the features of pronunciation, explain factors affecting the learning of pronunciation, elaborate the integration of pronunciation into the curriculum, discuss the strategies for teaching pronunciation that can help EFL learners meet their personal and professional needs. The review of literature shows that with careful preparation and integration, pronunciation can play a significant role in supporting the learners' overall communicative skill.

In an era saddled by mounting energy dependency and insecurity, some are not only turning to renewable geothermal energy to ensure access, but it is growing in usage in the Western region of the United States of America. Notwithstanding the United States role as a major producer of geothermal resources globally, geothermal energy has over the last several years found ample use in various spheres of daily endeavors within communities. The surging demand is much so that, it now contributes quite significantly in the generation of electricity to power households and farming activities and to sustain domestic supplies essential to segments of the economy for communities from California to Nevada. With much of the production levels, installations and plant capacities of geothermal power fully entrenched in the western region of the country considering the geologic and physical attributes, California stands out as the largest producer of geothermal power compared to its neighbors in the western region. For that, the demand for geothermal resource has been recurrent in quite a few counties over the years on the California side of the US Western region. In the face of widespread demands in the region, geothermal energy infrastructure in the form of new plants has gradually penetrated different states under varying level of production and installed capacities to boost energy security and sustain development of the areas. Even at that, very little has been done in the literature to undertake a regional assessment of the potentials of geothermal energy using a mix scale approach of spatial analysis anchored in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Accordingly, this study will fill that void in research by utilizing mix scale tools of GIS and descriptive states in analyzing the geothermal energy potentials of states in the Western region of the United States. Emphasizing the issues, trends, impacts, production, factors and future efforts through recommendations, the results point to growing usage and changes in a whole set of energy indicators ranging from production and demands, installed capacity to others over time in the region with much of that in California coupled with an uptick in geothermal portfolio. Additionally, the GIS mapping of the trends highlights gradual dispersion of changing patterns in consumption and presence of infrastructural facilities visibly concentrated in a cluster of areas located in the western region. With all these attributed to a host of socioeconomic and physical factors, the paper proposed suggestions ranging from the design of a regional geothermal energy information system, the education of the public and more infrastructural development in the sector.

Beginning to write with word processing: Integrating writing process and technology in a primary classroom fStechnology becomes ubiquitous, teachers can support students' writing development in new ways. n a state of organized chaos, students return from their outdoor recess, grab their snacks, and retrieve their notebooks and pencils for writing workshop. One student approaches the teacher asking, "Whose turn is it to use the computers?" Although Sarah (all names are pseudonyms) is disappointed that it is not her turn today, she quickly finds Alex, one of the students chosen to work with the word processor, and shares the good news with him. This information galvanizes Alex into action as he packs his remaining snack away and darts over to the computer corner, anxious to begin his new piece of writing. This scene might occur in many elementary schools throughout North America today. As federal, state, and provincial governments provide substantial monies for placement of computer technologies in schools, the question remains how best to use this resource in the context of 21 st-century classrooms. The purpose of this article is to explore one focused use of these computer technologies and, in particular, to describe the writing behaviors demonstrated by a group of grade 1 students who used word processors to support their writing. Background: The majority of older persons in Lebanon live with their family, which provides the help and care required when their relative is functionally impaired. Knowing that taking care of an older impaired relative is considered a source of enrichment for the caregiver and an act of gratitude towards the older person in Lebanon. However, there are few formal resources to support these families. This study is informed by a theoretical framework of stress. Objective: Identify the dimensions of the caring context related to the health of Lebanese family caregivers living with an older impaired relative. Design: Exploratory correlational study. Participants: Convenience sample ðN ¼ 319Þ drawn from all the regions of Lebanon according to predetermined quotas on the basis of relative demographic weight and socio-economic class. The inclusion criteria are: aged 18 years or over; primary caregiver; provided help with at least one ADL or IADL once a week; lived with the older impaired person. 13.5% refused to participate in the study. The caregivers recruited were female (84%), adult children (48%) or spouses (22.6%) with a mean age of 46 years. Almost half of them reported a post-compulsory level of education and a low monthly household income and no medical coverage for 68% of them. Methods: The data were collected during a face-to-face interviews with the caregivers in their homes. Results: The results from regression analyses indicate that the degree of functional impairment, the frequency of depressive and disruptive behaviours of cared-for relative are linked to at least one of three caregiver health indicators ðpo:01Þ. Also, caregiver cognitive appraisal of these stressors is associated with either role strain or feeling of helplessness ðpo:05Þ. The informal emotional support received by caregivers is positively related to well-being ðpo:001Þ, whereas interpersonal conflicts with family and friends diminish caregiver well-being and increase role strain ðpo:001Þ. Sufficiency of emotional support received is negatively associated with role strain ðpo:001Þ.

This article offers for inspection the proposition that the adversarial evidence-based litigation process is unsuitable for resolving custody cases in general and relocation cases in particular. It analyzes the leading cases from New York, Massachusetts, California, England, Canada, and Australia. It reaches a conclusion that no jurisdiction has devised a legal standard or formula that enables a judge to predict the future best interest of a child if that child is allowed to relocate with one parent away from the other. For this reason, the court has a duty to offer as sophisticated and friendly a settlement process and atmosphere as possible. However, knowing that judges will still be required to resolve these difficult cases because they often seem impervious to settlement, the article offers thirty-six factors that a court should consider in all move-away cases. By relying on each of these factors that is relevant to the case, the parents will have an understanding of why the decision was made the way it was and it will also allow for effective appellate review.

The monetary policy content both in the world and in Russia is changing. The past five years confirm that banking systems are experiencing unprecedented influence of both external and internal macroeconomic factors. Autonomous factors in the banking sector liquidity formation are factors that are not related to the Central Bank operations for its management. However, at present, there are no studies related to the study of the autonomous factors influence on the banking sector liquidity. This article presents a model that fills this gap. We use this model to answer a number of theoretical questions: how is the influence of autonomous factors on the banking sector liquidity carried out and in what stages of development are their manifestations stronger? The calculated model is able to test hypotheses that are informally discussed in political and academic circles. Based on the objectivity of the model, one can estimate the reliability of each of the hypotheses put forward in this study. For calculating the model, time series were used for each day for the period 2013-2016, taken at the site of the Central Bank of Russia. On the basis of the panel regressions device it is shown that among the autonomous factors of liquidity formation the largest impact on the Russian banking sector liquidity is made by the change in balances on the accounts of the enlarged government with the Bank of Russia. The conducted research will allow the Central Bank to forecast the banking sector demand in liquid funds, taking into account the autonomous factors influence.

Background Globally, less than 10% of graduating medical students select pathology as a future career. Many factors were reported from different settings to influence the choice of pathology. The aim of this study was to investigate the factors that determine medical students' preferences in choosing pathology as a future career. Methods This cross-sectional study surveyed students from three governmental medical schools in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A self-administered questionnaire that contained demographic questions and items that addressed perceived factors that affect the choice of pathology was distributed to medical students. Collected data were analyzed using Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) Statistics for Windows, Version 25.0 (Armonk, NY: IBM Corp). A chi-square test was used to determine the association between independent variables and interest in pathology. Results Out of the 400 questionnaires distributed, 338 students completed the survey with a response rate of 84.5%. Overall, surgery (24%) and internal medicine (20%) were the most favored, specialties with only 5% of the students selecting pathology as their first choice. Patient-doctor interaction (72.2%) was perceived as the most important factor in not choosing pathology as a future career. Taking an elective course, younger age groups, and year in medical school were all significantly associated (p<0.001) with an interest in pathology. Conclusion In this study, most of the students indicated surgery and internal medicine as their first specialty choices. Only 5% of the students chose pathology as their first choice. Two-thirds of medical students perceived pathologists do not interact with patients. A significant association was found between younger age groups, enrolling for a pathology course, and having an interest in pathology.

Insomnia is a prevalent health complaint whose onset is precipitated by a variety of factors. There is an important need to identify and describe these factors to improve our understanding of risk factors and the natural history of insomnia. This article is aimed at identifying and describing the types of precipitating factors related to the onset of insomnia. A total of 345 patients evaluated for insomnia at a sleep-disorders clinic completed a sleep survey and underwent a semistructured clinical interview. As part of the evaluation, the specific precipitating events related to the onset of insomnia were identified. Subsequently, these factors were categorized (work-school, family, physical or psychological health, or indeterminate), and their affective valence (negative, positive, or indeterminate) was coded. The most common precipitating factors of insomnia were related to family, health, and work-school events. Sixty-five percent of precipitating events had a negative valence. These events differed with the age of onset of insomnia but not with the gender of participants. These findings are useful to identify potential risk factors for insomnia and improve our understanding of the natural history of insomnia.

With the increasing standardization of nursing education in Europe under the Bologna Process Declaration (1999), there is a growing interest in defining a common concept of academic success and/or failure, measuring associated factors and comparing differences and similarities between different countries. While there is literature available on these issues from other countries, the phenomenon has not been studied in Italy. The aim of this study was to define the factors associated with academic success or failure in an Italian cohort of nursing students on a bachelor's degree course. A retrospective multicenter study design was adopted. All students enrolling in the academic year 2004-05 on two different bachelor's courses in the north of Italy were interviewed. Only 81 of the 117 students considered (69.2%) concluded their course in three years. Multivariate analysis identified two factors determining academic success/failure: good results in the entry examination for the bachelor's degree in nursing sciences were associated with academic success (OR 4.217, IC 95% 1.501-11.84), while family commitments, e.g. caring for children or elderly people were associated with academic failure (OR 0.120, IC 95% 0.03-0.471). Academic failure has a strong impact on students, their families, the teaching faculties and the community, and its prevention is a challenge in the countries with a shortage of nurses.

This article presents an overview of haematological parameters and factors affecting their values. Blood act as a pathological reflector of the status of the exposed animals to toxicants and other conditions. The examination of blood provides the opportunity to clinically investigate the presence of metabolites and other constituents in the body of animals and it plays a vital role in the physiological, nutritional and pathological status of an animal. Blood constituents change in relation to the physiological status of an animal. These changes are important in assessing the response of farm animals to various physiological situations. These changes are often caused by several factors; some of which are genetic and others, non-genetic. Age, sex, breed and management systems are among the factors that influence blood-based parameters of farm animals. It is important to establish baseline indices for these parameters on the basis of these factors and determine the effects of these factors on these indices.

The study was undertaken with the objective of assessing factors affecting milk market outlet choices in Wolaita zone, Ethiopia. Using farm household survey data from 394 households and Multinomial Logit Model, milk market outlet choices were analyzed. Multinomial Logit model results indicate that compared to accessing individual consumer milk market outlet, the likelihood of accessing cooperative milk market outlet was lower among households who owned large number of cows, those who considered price offered by cooperative lower than other market outlets and those who wanted payment other than cash mode. The likelihood of accessing cooperative milk market outlet was higher for households who were cooperative member, who owned large landholding size, who had been in dairy farming for many years and who received better dairy extension services. Compared to accessing individual consumer milk market outlet, the likelihood of accessing hotel/restaurant milk market outlet was lower among households who were at far away from urban center and higher among households who accessed better dairy extension services and who owned large number of dairy cows. As one of the key factors to boost milk market outlet choices, dairy extension services should be strengthened through redesigning or reforming implementation strategies or improving/strengthening existing policy. It should be strengthened to enable farmers produce surplus milk for markets and should devise means to reduce local milking cow numbers by replacing them with crossbred cows. Moreover, governments should strengthen milk processing cooperatives and improve infrastructure facilities.

The article analyzes gaps in the perception of quality factors affecting the customer experience by employees and consumers in the hospitality industry. The aim of the work is to identify the discrepancy in the perception of factors affecting the management of consumer experience by employees and guests of enterprises in the hospitality industry. The levels of consumer involvement in the process of interaction with the company are highlighted. Methods of studying, evaluating, analyzing consumer behavior are analyzed. The main factors affecting customer satisfaction are highlighted. The main reasons for customer dissatisfaction with the services provided are analyzed. On the basis of the analysis, a model of inconsistency in the quality of the service provided between the consumer, personnel, and business owners was created. The presented model of service quality will make it possible to quickly respond to changes in the external environment, which is fundamentally important today in an increasingly concentrated competition. The main criteria of a pro-quality approach to the provision of services in the hospitality industry are considered: availability, communication skills, competence, courtesy and responsiveness, trust, reliability, safety, customer understanding. Highlighted and analyzed classifiers to determine the importance of service elements based on the perception of consumers. Thus, a comprehensive study of consumer experience, improvement of the quality management system should lead to an increase in guest loyalty and, ultimately, an improvement in the efficiency of the hotel enterprise.

With the help of a statistical package of social sciences collected data was analyzed with statistical procedure i.e., SD, correlation and analysis of variance. Results revealed that in the acquisition of students' success their personal characteristics, factors related with institutional support, family support, their awareness and access to learning resource are playing a very important role. Male university students are showing more strong academic related characteristics as compared to female university students. Those students whose fathers are teaching professionals are exhibiting higher scores on students' success questionnaire and those whose fathers are business men scored lower. Higher education management and teachers can play a significant role in the determination of students' success if they devise management practices in collaboration with the factors that are promoting success among learners and by providing conducive learning environment with maximum learning resources.

PROBLEM: Many adolescents and some young adults are involved in gangs, both on a national and international basis; and there has been an increase in individuals involved in gangs in the past decade or so.
METHOD: A literature review examined studies related to the surrounding risk factors associated with gang membership.
FINDINGS: The majority of research is US based. However, the global fundamental characteristics of youth gangs have remained relatively stable post 2000 categorised into five ecological domains: individual, peer, family, school and community.
CONCLUSION: With the increase of gangs across the UK over the years, more research is needed in order to address the risk factors that derive individuals to join gangs, in order to put the correct prevention procedures and intervention programmes in place.

The term eco-labeling‘ has become a buzz word in today‘s sustainable business world. The use of eco-labeling in various forms has been increasing notably for past many years, sometimes as an environmental ―requirement‖ and sometimes merely as a marketing tool. For whatever apparent purposes the labeling is used, the ultimate goals are to educate and encourage the consumers to buy and use environment-friendly products. However, with so many competing eco-labels available today, questions arise about how well they are attended and understood by consumers. Mentionable studies have already been done on various dimensions of consumer response to eco-labels. Yet gap exists in exploring an inclusive set of parameters for investigating consumer perception of eco-labels. This paper reviews the major works done on the field and makes a synthesis of their findings with a view to identifying all the possible factors to be taken into account for measuring consumer perception of eco-labeling of products. Thereby it develops a structural equation model (SEM) with a tentative inclusive set of 9 parameters to be used in the investigation of consumer understanding and perception of eco-labeling. These parameters are: consumer awareness, visibility and attention, consumer knowledge, consumer trust, credibility of the source, type and level of information, clarity of meaning, persuasiveness, and private benefits. Although mentionable limitation of the paper is that it has relied only on the available published literature, this can be treated as an exploratory or pilot study for guiding the designing of large scale future empirical researches for developing a dependable inclusive set of parameters for testing consumer understanding and perception of eco-labeling. The results are therefore at best only tentative.

The COVID-19 recovery rate of 97.3% and the death per million of 345 in India are better than the corresponding values in the USA and most of Europe despite better health infrastructure in these countries. The mean COVID fatality rate of Europe and a few countries in America is seven times that of India. This warrants a systematic study of the factors behind this conspicuous disparity. It is time to study lifestyle and other factors that may be related to recovery with minimal medical intervention or serious complications, leading to belated recovery and sometimes mortality. Obesity and excessive consumption of soft drinks, red meat and processed food may have a role to play in the European and American countries. On the other hand, the use of turmeric, black pepper, ginger in daily cooking, consumption of Indian gooseberry, Tulasi, different decoctions (Kashaya) and practice of various immune-boosting breathing exercises including yoga might have had a role in India. A detailed study involving a sizable number of cases of recovery and death in India, USA and some European countries will throw light on these factors behind the significant differences. The results shall provide crucial learning to the world for managing future waves and pandemics.

This paper conceptualises a framework for assessing protected area (PA)-community relationships and is premised on the view that positive PA-community relationships enhance conservation. A metasynthesis of existing academic literature with a qualitative orientation was used to review the PA staff-community relationships, and data were analysed using an inductive qualitative approach. From a review of 105 published documents focusing on wildlife conservation, community involvement and PA-community relationships, it emerged that relationships are mostly influenced by attitudes. With the case of PA-community relationships, the question that arises is 'whose attitude'? The paper proposes that both PA staff attitudes and community attitudes play an important role in shaping these relationships. Based on these findings, we propose a PA-community relationship framework that illuminates the human-wildlife interface as critical space in shaping conservation attitudes. In particular, four major factors affecting PA staff-community relationships were identified: (i) history of creation of the PAs focusing on forced relocation, and the fences and fines approach; (ii) benefits and costs associated with living closer to PAs; (iii) socio-demographic factors in which the influences of sex, age, level of education, number of years stayed in the village, experience accrued from working in PAs, household size, number of livestock, sources of income, and level of income; and (iv) community involvement in conservation-related developmental projects. We conclude that enhanced PA-community relationships promote wildlife conservation through participatory approaches and collaboration between PA staff and communities. We recommend for continued assessment and monitoring of PA staff and community relationships in order to allow for sustainable conservation especially in developing countries.

Purpose: To evaluate possible parental satisfaction indicators, concerning the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which are related to sociodemographic variables. Design: Non-experimental design using a validated parental satisfaction questionnaire. The sample consisted of 550 parents (297 mothers, 253 fathers) whose infants were hospitalized in two Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) in Greece. The parents completed the questionnaire on the day of discharge. Results: Younger Greek women, with basic education level, who live in rural areas and whose infant's length of stay was short, expressed higher levels of satisfaction. Conclusion: The parents' sex and the duration of the infant's hospitalization are the most significant factors affecting parental satisfaction. Background factors should be considered when evaluating parental satisfaction.

Purchasing with cash, financing through a loan, renting and leasing are four most common ways which are mainly affected by different construction equipment selection factors. For having the best result in profit for a construction industry choosing the best alternative for obtaining equipment is one of the most important issues. The optimum acquisition strategy comes from accurate estimates of revenues and cost and also some non-financial factors that effect on selection of appropriate equipment. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate these factors. The identification of the factors that effect on equipment selection has been carried out using different literatures and by interviewing from experts in construction. This paper has been planned to deal with identification of factors affecting equipment selection, developing a framework for assessing the factors affecting equipment selection. A framework has been developed, which will be used for the future research in this area.

Human resource is required for an organization to conduct different business activities. Without the support of human resource, the organization cannot exist or operate effectively. The success of any organization depends on the effective use of human resources. Human resource is the major contributory force for any kind of organization in India. Due to this, management of this human resource, i.e. Human Resource Management (HRM) must have more significance in India. Also, human resources are major risky to manage in the construction field, as they are not mostly permanent like other industries. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the Human Resource Management (HRM) in the construction industry. However, studies have shown that research on HRM in the project management context is yet undeveloped and publications are relatively rare and most research simply involves case studies or expert reports. Past research has been done on HRM are mostly qualitative and there is a lack of quantitative research.
