North Korea’s strategic assertiveness driven by its enduring aspirations to own a more sophisticated and survivable nuclear ICBM capability has recently generated a great deal of concern, particularly in civilian circles. However, despite Pyongyang’s presumed desire to possess a less theoretical capability to strike strategic targets as appealing as the District of Columbia, Yellowstone National Park, and the San Andreas Fault, for now the possibility of a surprise North Korean nuclear attack remains extremely remote, not to say unimaginable. The reason is fairly evident: a mix of defensive rationality, technological constraints, and regional geopolitics. Based on these three cardinal and largely verifiable factors, the Pentagon and its U.S. interagency counterparts should come up with a well-tailored, case-adaptive deterrence and containment strategy against the North, founded on indispensable hard-power countermeasures.

Targeting the North Korean state-organized illicit trade the presentation discusses the approach of transforming the state´s elite families into businesspeople. This approach is based on the rational choice theory and on interviews with former North Korean security staff. Moreover, the approach proposes border partnership missions with China and Russia as well as an UN security council draft resolution to target the possible scenario of a North Korean system breakdown with a customs approach to prevent the proliferation of WMD across the state´s insecure borders by all kind of supply chains. Disclaimer: 1. This presentation was a result of my research in the year 2014. It does nor reflect my then and my current critical political opinion regarding the politics of The Peoples Republic of China, which I understand as brutal and repressive, and those of the Russian Federation, which I understand as similarly criminal. 2. Moreover, I hereby declare that I understand the state crime committed against the Uighurs by Chinese authorities and the Communist Party as - at minimum - a crime against humanity and that I stand for a military defense support of Taiwan by Western states, including the US. Moreovrer, in my opinion, the Russian attack on Ukraine is a criminal war that should trigger a criminal prosecution of those responsible for it and of the war crimes commitred by the Russian occupationists. Finally, I understand communist China as a brutal and repressive dictatorship that is based on a comprehensive system of virtual surveillance and formal social control.

From the late-1980s, and in response to the rapid spread of ballistic missiles in her neighborhood, Turkey has opted to add a symmetrical ingredient to her traditional policy of asymmetrical response, and began developing and deploying her own ballistic missiles. Additionally, thanks to the rapid technological progress during the last 10-15 years, shorter range ballistic missiles have been rendered attractive weapon systems even for countries like Turkey with access to advanced air power assets. Thanks to multi-phased development program, Turkey has recently deployed ballistic missile with a range of up to 300 km, whereas development work has been underway on longer-range derivatives. Paying tribute to geostrategic, technological, cost, and foreign policy considerations, the optimum range bracket for Turkey’s ballistic missiles appears to be around 800 kilometers. Recent calls for ballistic missiles of much longer ranges (e.g. 2,500 km) do not correspond to Turkey’s geostrategic and security circumstances. Rather than being the products of careful cost-benefit analyses, those calls appear to be the outcomes of unarticulated competitive reasoning and instincts.

1. Recently available high resolution imagery of DF-26 points to the high likelihood of the missile
being based on the DF-16 design with the booster length increased for extended range.
2. There is also a possibility that a better fuel with high burn rate performance is used.
3. The nose geometry and the higher payload capacity indicate that the re-entry vehicle has high
ballistic coefficient and hence will have very high re-entry velocity
4. For terminal control the missile would most likely have reaction control motors rather than
aerodynamic control surfaces.
5. The enhanced re-entry velocity makes the missile unsuitable for anti-ship operation.
6. It is highly likely that the missile is specifically designed for high precision conventional strikes.
7. The likely targets, going by the range, would be air bases in Guam and the vehicle might come
with specifically designed larger cluster type sub-munitions warhead and bunker busting
warheads for HDBT.

Distributed Weighted Engagement Scheme (DWES) that is being incorporated in the Aegis system, has been successfully
tested. The DWES is an algorithm that helps in the coordinated engagement decision making involving multiple
Aegis equipped Destroyers deployed in a theatre. The algorithm decides, based on the geometry of the BMD nodes and the target position at any given time, on the node that could have the best shot against the incoming warhead.

This article looks at the competing dilemmas faced by the great powers and the reasons for their eventual cooperation concerning Iran's nuclear programme. The great powers were divided between those who wanted a total roll back and those who supported meaningful and verifiable limits. Using the levels of analysis framework, the article looks at individual actors, structural factors and the domestic interconnections that sustained the Iranian nuclear crisis and propelled its eventual resolution in the form of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

Strategic planners in the USA and USSR are concerned about the vulnerability of their
nuclear arsenals to a disarming first strike by the other side. When in 1977-78 the USSR began to achieve more accurate intercontinental ballistic missiles, US strategic
thinking became dominated with the premise that the system could destroy nearly 90% ofnthe US ICBMs in a first strike. An attack against missiles in silos is a new type of counterforce attack with different requirements on the predictable performance of
ICBMs. However, the considerable technical uncertamt1es involved are net usually
considered in the simplified calculations quoted by the Pentagon. Uncertain factors
include the yield of the warhead, reliability of the missile, reponse of silos to nuclear effects, timing of the attack, and interference between warheads used. Many of these factors have never been and can never be tested. Although a successful counter-silo attack still leaves the attacked nation with land- and sea-based nuclear weapons with which it could retaliate, formulae of silo kill probability are used in the public debate in the West. To base defence policy or weapon procurement and planning on such predictions approaches the irresponsible.

In this paper, the classical and generalized Sundman time transformations are used to establish new generating set of differential equations of motion in terms of the Eulerian redundant parameters. The implementation of this set on digital computers for the commonly used independent variables is developed once and for all. Motion prediction algorithms based on these equations are developed in a recursive manner for the motions in the Earth's gravitational field with axial symmetry whatever the number of the zonal harmonic terms may be. Applications for the two types of short and long term predictions are considered for the perturbed motion in the Earth's gravitational field with axial symmetry with zonal harmonic terms up to J 36 . Numerical results proved the very high efficiency and flexibility of the developed equations.

In this paper the full recurrent power series solution is established for J 2-gravity perturbed motion in terms of the Eulerian redundant parameters. Applications of the method for the problem of the final state prediction are illustrated by numerical examples of some typical ballistic missiles, a final state of very high accuracy is obtained for each case study.

The recent successful test firing of the canisterised Agni V was a significant milestone in India’s long range nuclear strike capability. This was the third successful test launch of the missile where one of the key developmental objectives were met, i.e. canisterising it. This is a remarkable achievement as only a couple of countries have achieved such a capability. Canisterisation of the missile would enable better handling of the missile and would to some extent ease the reloading effort. The other objective is to incorporate MIRV capability on which DRDO is reportedly working.
