Modular reconfigurable placement machines represent one of the most recent and most popular types of placement machines to respond to the needs for increased flexibility and productivity in automated printed circuit board (PCB) assembly. This paper studies the combined task of determining a favourable machine configuration and line balancing for an assembly line where a single type of PCB is

Abstract Global software development is rapidly becoming the norm for technology companies. Previous qualitative research suggests that multi-site development may increase development cycle time. We use both survey data and data from the source code change management system to model the extent of delay in a multi-site software development organization, and explore several possible mechanisms for this delay. We also measure differences in same-site and cross-site communication patterns, and analyze the ...

The ultimate Aim of ASIC verification is to obtain the highest possible level of confidence in the correctness of a design, attempt to find design errors and show that the design implements the specification. Complexity of ASIC is growing exponentially and the market is pressuring design cycle times to decrease. Traditional methods of verification have proven to be insufficient for Digital Image processing applications. We develop a new verification method based on SystemVerilog verification with MATLAB to accelerate verification. The co-simulation is accomplished using MATLAB and SystemVerilog coupled through the DPI. Here is used the Image Resize design verification as case study by using co-simulation method between SystemVerilog and MATLAB. Golden reference will be made using MATLAB In-built functions, while rest of the Verification Environment are in SystemVerilog. The goal is to find more bugs from the Design as compared to traditional method of Verification, reduce time to ve...

In today's tight, competitive, and volatile market in semiconductor manufacturing, a successful semiconductor manufacturer has to look into multiple performance indices such as cycle time and on-time delivery. Effective dispatching mechanism is a widely used strategy to achieve these performance indices simultaneously. In the past, dispatching studies in semiconductor manufacturing have primarily focused on the level of tool dispatching. This

Determining accurate assembly cycle times in the car industry is an integral part of efficient production, human and facility planning. Three types of methods are available for determining cycle time for manual processes, including: estimating methods, direct observation method (stopwatch), and predetermined motion time systems (PMTSs). Estimating methods cannot determine accurate times. The direct observation method cannot be used for non-existent stations; in addition, this method is very tedious. Although PMTSs are able to properly determine assembly cycle times, some problems have decreased their usage. This paper presents the results of a project accomplished in the Iran-Khodro Car Company (IKCO), the most famous vehicle manufacturing factory in Iran and the Middle East. A particular predetermined time study approach is developed in this company which covers all body shop operations. Besides, some special time tables are developed by the combination of MOST and work time table standards. Finally, an easy-to-use worksheet is designed which can be filled out by moderately educated practitioners. The potential errors will be minimised in the proposed approach to compare with existing ordinary methods.
