Name:
Named in honor of Yurii Stepanovich Kobyashev (Юрий Степанович Кобяшев) (1935-2009) Russian mineralogist and famous collector of minerals, researcher at the Natural Science Museum of the Ilmen (Ilmensky) Reserve from 1988 to 2007, in recognition of his contribution to the study of the mineralogy of the Urals.
Known also as an anthropogenic/synthetic phase found on altered copper and bronze pieces ("strandbergite").
Decomposes in water within 10 min (Yoder et al., 2007).
Fakes
It is very easy to grow specimens artificially using copper sulphate solution to attack existing calcite crystals. Specimens sold from Ojuela mine, Mexico in recent years are highly likely to be manufactured in such a way. See https://www.mindat.org/mesg-537446.html

Elongated crystals up to 0.2 mm typically curved or split and combined into thin crusts up to 1 × 2 mm.
Place of Conservation of Type Material:
The type specimen is deposited in the collections of the Fersman Mineralogical Museum of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia, registration number 4152/1.
Geological Setting of Type Material:
In cavities of a calcite-quartz vein.
