Mike Aldren wrote (On August 20, 2011): Matt Hardy was arrested and charged earlier today with reckless driving Law enforcement officers discovered Hardy after his 2009 Corvette ran off the road and struck a tree near Raleigh, North Carolina. He was found alone and apparently unharmed, according to police paperwork. TMZ reported that an officer observed signs of impairment and that Hardy submitted a blood test at a local jail house shortly before being released at around 7pm ET. Contrary to wide-spread reports Hardy so far does not appear to have been charged with drink-driving. . Following his arrest today, TNA opted to release Hardy from his contract. He had worked for the company since January but was suspended in June for undisclosed reasons.

Mike Aldren wrote (On August 22, 2011): Matt Hardy downplayed the seriousness of his DWI arrest last night. “I took a Breathalyzer immediately on the spot and it read clean, zero, nothing,” he wrote on his YouTube page. “Think about it peeps. There’s more to this story than meets the eye.” Hardy also wrote a strange anecdote describing the moment he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree. “When the side windows glass smashed into my face, arms, and neck, some of the blood felt almost angelic. I went from being afraid to die to feeling like I was almost being reborn with some sort of an ABSOLUTE PURE LIFEFORCE. It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced, I felt like I’d just received the blood of an angel flowing inside me. I know this sounds crazy! Due to this, I only have urges to help people. And miraculously, all my vices are gone.” The comments have since been deleted.

Mike Aldren wrote (On August 25, 2011): Matt Hardy was hospitalized Wednesday morning in North Carolina after reportedly falling down the stairs at home. There are no further details at press time. It’s a weird deal because there are obviously serious issues to address but at the same time Matt is continuing in full work mode with strange YouTube videos and Twitter posts. Friends have expressed their concern for his well-being. Girlfriend Reby Sky, who lives with Matt, when asked about his issues said: “Hurt, exasperated, exhausted, furious, tired of being lied to, tired of enablers. Just tired.” Shane Helms told Between the Ropes: “I wish I was there to talk to him in person so I could get a better gauge of what’s going on. I worry about Matt. a lot.” He added: “Matt is having his difficulties. I’m not even sure what they are. I have an idea but that’s not for me to say. He’s my friend so it’s probably something that, honestly. I wouldn’t say anything. But I do worry about him as I would worry about any friend or loved one.”

Mike Aldren wrote (On August 26, 2011): Matt Hardy speaks following hospitalization: “I have so many people to return calls to, text, DMs, and e-mails as well, and I eventually will. I appreciate the support from Jeff, Beth, Shane, Karen, My Dad, My Mother in heaven, my friends, My beautiful girlfriend Rebecca Reyes, Mrs. Dixie Carter, and all of my family, friends, fans. I love you and appreciate your support and prayers more than you could ever imagine!” Matt also said that friends got together to get him a new car after he wrote off his Corvette during his melt down last weekend. He says he’s doing much better now with the support of his friends.

Mike Aldren wrote (On August 30, 2011): A short time ago Matt Hardy posted what appears to be a suicide note via his Twitter and You Tube account. The note read: “Goodbye world. My time here is almost complete. I only have a few hours and minutes. I loved you all. Regardless of how you felt about me. I’ll miss you all. September 23, 1974 – August 31, 2011.” Hopefully this latest post amounts to nothing serious but friends of Matt Hardy and officials at WWE and TNA have been made aware of the situation and one would assume they will carry out welfare checks.

The apparent suicide note was a rib. A short time ago police were dispatched to carry out welfare checks

at the homes of Matt and Jeff Hardy in North Carolina. Beth Hardy, wife of Jeff, posted on Twitter that officers showed up to their house just after 11pm: “The fucking joke is over @MATTHARDYBRAND. Stop trying to work the Internet,” she wrote. “I guess you got what you wanted. Everyone is talking about you, again. But it’s not in a good way.”

Shane Helms also wrote: “Don’t believe the hype. And please don’t bash me for it! I didn’t do it, had nothing to do with it. Bottom line, I do enough dumb shit on my own. I don’t need to take heat for other people’s mistakes!”

So there you have it. This whole sage is just sad on so many levels.

Mike Aldren wrote (On August 31, 2011): Matt Hardy suicide hoax: Some clarity on the Matt Hardy story. Capt. Henry Marion of the Moore County sheriff’s office said the department received 25-30 phone calls to 911 to check on Matt’s well-being after he posted an apparent suicide note last night at around 10:30pm. Deputies first traveled to the home of Jeff Hardy to alert him to the situation shortly after 11pm. Jeff then went with the deputies to Matt’s apartment in Cameron, NC for a welfare check where they found Matt who told them everything was fine. To clarify our earlier report, deputies were enlisting the help of Jeff to check on Matt. The video is part of a publicity stunt that will lead to what Matt is calling his “rebirth”. A source very close to the situation told Wrestling Globe: “Clearly if you are trying to change your life you don’t pull a ridiculous stunt like this.” YouTube has since removed the video from its website. Matt posted some comments today to explain his actions. He apologized for any worry he may have caused family, friends or fans but insisted his video was not intended as a suicide note. “I needed one last attention grabber to let the World know that Matt Hardy has re-found his true self,” he said.
