Background & Aims: There is mounting evidence that matrix metalloproteinases are the predominant proteinases expressed in the gut mucosa during active inflammatory bowel disease. We investigated the role of metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9), a secreted gelatinase that is consistently up-regulated in both animal models and human inflammatory bowel disease and is associated with disease severity, in the pathogenesis of colitis by using mice containing a targeted deletion of the MMP-9 gene. Methods: Dextran sodium sulfate–induced colitis and Salmonella typhimurium–induced enterocolitis were used as animal models to study colitis. Results: MMP-9 activity and protein expression were absent from normal colonic mucosa but were up-regulated during experimental colitis. MMP-9−/− mice exposed to dextran sodium sulfate or salmonella had a significantly reduced extent and severity of colitis. Immunohistochemical studies showed that MMP-9 was localized to epithelial cells and granulocytes during active colitis. The immune response to systemic administration of Salmonella typhimurium was not affected in MMP-9−/− mice. Neutrophil transmigration studies and bone marrow chimeras showed that neutrophil MMP-9 is neither required for its migration nor sufficient to induce tissue damage during colitis and that epithelial MMP-9 is important for tissue damage. MMP-9 inhibited cell attachment and wound healing in the model intestinal epithelial cell line, Caco2-BBE. Conclusions: Taken together, our data suggest that MMP-9 expressed by epithelial cells may play an important role in the development of colitis by modulating cell–matrix interaction and wound healing. Thus, strategies to inhibit MMP-9 may be of potential therapeutic benefit.

As of October 2024 we have now finalizing of our review process. This PDF is now set up well for using an iPad. We will update this calendar each year. The format for the book was suggested to make it easier to read both the Ge'ez and the translated english text. We pray this true especially for those who will read this book in their assemblies.
As of October 2024 we found a few spelling and grammar errors.

Information technologies that link information systems have made intra-organizational communication almost seamless. Resultingly, this capability has inescapably influenced organizational formation structures. In this paper, the author synthesizes case study research regarding information systems and organizational structures. Based on an assigned and selected literature review; the author summarizes referenced content, compares and contrasts issues, and extrapolates results and conclusions garnered from scholarly study of a records management initiative.

Purpose – This study aims to study the importance of BI / DSS for organizations, as well as, investigate the organizational factors that influence the effective use of BI or DSS systems in a given organization. The researcher used the “University Library” and start gathering information about the emergence of BI and DSS techniques and understand the concepts, applications, and usefulness in different industries especially the retail one. The researcher also used “Google Scholar” in order to find reliable articles with valid information. Moreover, the researcher went through more than 20 articles to find the relevant information and used different keywords in the search queries so that the results provide the most relevant articles. The result of this study shown that the BI system can affect positively the decision support system (DSS) and make the right decision by gathering a huge amount of data, as well as, DSS can add value to the organization’s performance by increasing organizational control, personal efficiency and the effectiveness of problem-solving. Limitation of this study was related to the source of data just a few amounts of data gathering from 20 articles, and some data gathering only from one UNSW library, where the data may be gathered from other libraries or even other articles can be different. This study can assist organizations in giving the right decision support systems (DSS) by collecting correct data using BI, data mining or even any related information from various sources about the topic associated with the organizations. This, in turn, will affect the organization by giving the most appropriate, and accurate decision, moreover, which will also affect the institution's job function. This study has increased the body of knowledge about the emerging of big data and BI and how it can help the organization in giving the right decision making, Furthermore, BI offers insight into the importance of big data in the minds of decision-makers in organizations, that will bring for them the intention to repeat such that systems in future

Flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) are very complex systems with large part, tool, and information flows. The aim of this work is to develop a knowledge-based decision support system (KBDSS) for short-term scheduling in FMS strongly influenced by the tool management concept to provide a significant operational control tool for a wide range of machining cells, where a high level of flexibility is demanded, with benefits of more efficient cell utilization, greater tool flow control, and a dependable way of rapidly adjusting short-term production requirements. Development of a knowledge-based system to support the decision making process is justified by the inability of decision makers to diagnose efficiently many of the malfunctions that arise at machine, cell, and entire system levels during manufacturing. In this context, this paper proposes three knowledge-based models to ease the decision making process: an expert production scheduling system, a knowledge-based tool management decision support systems, and a tool management fault diagnosis system. The entire system has been created in a hierarchical manner and comprises more than 400 rules. The expert system (ES) was implemented in a commercial expert system shell, Knowledge Engineering System (KES) Production System (PS).

Resumé: The more general aim of this paper is to clarify as to why there were in use – and still are in certain Churches – two collections of Psalms: the one found in the Old Testament, the other used for liturgical needs. This study thus introduces the readers into the most significant stages of the history of the transmission of Psalms in the Hebrew, Greek, and Latin biblical traditions. The oldest texts of Psalms are to be found among the Dead Sea Scrolls. There are close to forty scrolls each containing at least several Psalms. Rather than attesting to the existence of a 'Psalter', these scrolls attest to several distinct collections of Psalms. While there is a critical edition of the Hebrew Psalms, the edition of the Greek Psalms prepared by Alfred Rahlfs (1931, 3 1979) is far from being really an editio maior. In addition to many methodological flaws pointed in this paper, this Göttingen edition does not evaluate several important ancient papyri dating to the II– IV century CE: e.g. the Antinoopolis Papyrus 7 which contains Psalms 81–82, the Chester Beatty Papyrus XIII which contains Psalms 72–88 and the Bodmer Papyrus XXIV which contains Psalms 17,45–118,44. However, in the absence of such critical edition, any serious translator of Psalter should take into consideration not only these Greek papyri but also the complex history of the transmission of Psalms in the He-brew, Greek, and Latin biblical traditions.

Life-cycle management of urban infrastructure projects is very complex process from both management and economic aspects. Focus of this research is on urban infrastructure maintenance phase of a life-cycle, especially on decision making in maintenance problems. Urban infrastructure maintenance management deals with complex decision making process. The reasons for a complexity are: lots of participants, multi- disciplinarity, huge quantity of information, limited budget, conflict goals and criteria. These facts indicate that decision making processes in urban infrastructure management undoubtedly belong to ill-defined problems. In order to cope with such complexity and to help project managers during decision making processes this research proposes an application of multicriteria methods. Multicriteria methodology proposed herein is applied on priority setting problem. It starts with goal analysis followed by definition of urban infrastructure elements and development of adequate criteria set. Evaluation of criteria importance (weights) is based on a set of experts’ opinions processed by AHP method. An assessment of maintenance conditions of urban infrastructure elements is provided trough monitoring process. The way of using proper forms and procedures for data collection is presented as well. All collected data are processed by PROMETHEE multicriteria methods. The main result of a multicriteria process is priority maintenance list for urban infrastructure elements. The methodology is tested on road infrastructure of town of Split.

White button mushroom is most favoured mushroom both in India and world. It is revered for one of the option to meet the growing vegetable demands of India as mushroom cultivation do not require additional land. The productivity of white button mushroom mainly depends on the quality of compost. Button mushroom compost is prepared from wide variety of substances and accordingly the nutrient content and quality varies widely. Mushroom growers facing difficulty in choosing ingredients for producing quality compost besides lacking understanding on proportion of different ingredients for making compost. This paper illustrates about the decision support tool for making ideal compost for button mushroom compost.
