Objective quality assessment models have been used more and more in recent years to assess or monitor speech and audio quality in many multime-dia and audio processing systems. These methods offer a clear and repeatable way to evaluate a customer experience by measuring perceived quality on a subjective scale, which is easily understood, such as a quality rating scale, ranging from excellent quality to a low quality. Subsequently, the aim of service providers is to offer reliable services providing the end-user/customer with the best possible quality in the context of the current network conditions to avoid a customer churn. This paper presents a design and performance evaluation of parametric models estimating the audio quality experienced by the end user of broadcasting systems and web-casting applications. The Random Forest (RF) algorithm is used to design non-intrusive parametric models, establishing the relationship between the feature description and the perceived quality scores. For this, the broadcast and web-cast sub-databases were created , where the web-cast sub-database includes 17,280 degraded samples and the broadcast sub-database contains 1,080 degraded samples obtained from the Slovak Radio. The results reported for the proposed paramet-ric audio quality models have validated Random Forest as a powerful technique that provides a good efficiency in terms of Pearson Correlation Coefficient (PCC) and Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE).

The contemporary Smartphone has built-in Instant Messaging (IM) applications like Whatsapp, Line, etc, which facilitates users to send and receive chat messages, video, audio and images via Smartphone in real time. Apart from benefits offered by Instant Messaging (IM), it also suffers from few vulnerabilities which provide ground for attackers to launch attacks such as Man-in-the-middle attack (MITM). These applications leave traces and Evidences in phone. In order to identify crimes, it is essentially required to retrieve these traces and evidences by using appropriate forensic technique. The works carried out in this field deals with forensic analysis of Whatsapp, viber, ChatOn etc but not with forensic analysis of Line messenger, even though number of users of Line messenger is more than 500 million. In this work, evidence subjected to Line messenger has been extracted from iPhone running ios 6. This paper presents evidence gathering of Line IM application which proves beneficial for forensic analysts and practitioners as it assists them in course of mapping and locating digital evidences of Line messenger on iPhone.

The use of cellular phones is now ubiquitous through most of the adult global population and is increasingly common among even young children in many countries (e.g. Finland, where the market for smart phones is nearly saturated). The basic operation of cellular phone networks demands widespread human exposure to radio-frequency radiation (RFR) with cellular phone base stations providing cellular coverage in most areas. As the data needs of the population increase from the major shift in the source of Internet use from personal computers to smart phones, this coverage is widely predicted to increase. Thus, both the density of base stations and their power output is expected to increase the global human RFR exposure. Although direct causation of negative human health effects from RFR from cellular phone base stations has not been finalized, there is already enough medical and scientific evidence to warrant long-term liability concerns for companies deploying cellular phone towers. In order to protect cell phone tower firms from the ramifications of the failed paths of other industries that have caused unintended human harm (e.g. tobacco) this Current Issue summarizes the peer-reviewed literature on the effects of RFR from cellular phone base stations. Specifically the impacts of siting base stations are closely examined and recommendations are made for companies that deploy them to minimize their potential future liability.

Introduction. The business challenges posed by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic have prompted companies to respond immediately to the situation and implement new CSR projects to support the community. All companies act differently: they give preferences to doctors, allocate funds for the purchase of equipment, organize remote work et cetra. At the same time, the question of the peculiarities and differences between different industries and within one industry remains almost unsolved. The purpose of this study is to analyze the activities of mobile companies in Ukraine in the field of corporate social responsibility. The contribution of companies in overcoming the consequences of the pandemic, what actions were taken and in what directions is also studied.Methods. To achieve this goal, general and special methods were used, namely: theoretical generalization, systematization, analysis and synthesis, economic and statistical methods of collecting and processing information, as well as...

This chapter surveys the history of telecommunications from a global perspective and highlights three influential interpretative traditions. It has two parts. The first part defines “telecommunications” and sketches the main dimensions of four telecommunications networks over a two-hundred-year period – the optical telegraph, the electric telegraph, the landline telephone, and the mobile telephone (and its predecessor, the wireless telegraph). The second part shows how historical scholarship on topics in the history of telecommunications has been shaped by three intellectual traditions: the Large Technical Systems (LTS) approach; political economy; and the Social Construction of Technology (SCOT).

ABSTRACT
Weather Forecast stations are used for the prediction of future weather conditions.
These systems require intensive human efforts and are sometimes inaccurate in its
prediction. Wireless weather monitoring stations are created to monitor weather
virtually or remotely without the requirement of direct human efforts. The system is
designed to implement sensors which accurately acquire analog or digital data passed
to a microcontroller for the storage and processing of these data. This project is focused
on the construction of wireless weather monitoring system able to sense temperature,
humidity and light intensity for normal use by regular users, application in agriculture,
science laboratories, industries and creation of weather reports.

There is a great need by GSM and Wi-Fi users in and around the Engineering complex in Federal Polytechnic Ilaro for an optimization of signal reception. In the course of the little research and observations carried out, it was observed that signal reception at this point is ironic to its neighboring building (i.e. Engineering departmental blocks) as signal reception have been boosted in the aforementioned place, leaving the complex (especially, the block of offices and laboratories) a blind spot because the building is made up of reinforced concrete with solid metal framework. From the understanding of telecommunication signal propagation, it will be recalled that such high-rise buildings and metal or reinforced concrete creates a divergence to the travelling waves from the nearby transmitting antennas. This project is meant to solve the problem of poor or weak signal reception in the building by creating an uprising receiving antenna for the building which will transmit through a coaxial cable to a transmitting antenna situated in the middle of the building thereby working on the principle of a signal repeater.

The issue of ensuring uniform radio coverage of service areas and the associated reliability of mobile radio systems
in the 3G and 4G standards requires a lot of attention upon designing cellular mobile networks. One of the main tasks at
the first stage of the designing is the mathematical modeling of radio wave propagation under the influence of environment.
This work provides classification of mathematical models of radio wave propagation in cellular mobile communication
systems, the algorithm of calculating radio signal strength at the receiving point depending on the distance between the mobile
and the base stations as well as factors and conditions affecting radio wave propagation are specified.

Understanding what factors predict whether an urban migrant will end up in a deprived neighbourhood or not could help prevent the exploitation of vulnerable individuals. This study leveraged pseudonymized mobile money interactions combined with cell phone data to shed light on urban migration patterns and deprivation in Tanzania. Call detail records were used to identify individuals who migrated to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania's largest city. A street survey of the city's subwards was used to determine which individuals moved to more deprived areas. t-tests showed that people who settled in poorer neighbourhoods had less money coming into their mobile money account after they moved, but not before. A machine learning approach was then utilized to predict which migrants will move to poorer areas of the city, making them arguably more vulnerable to poverty, unemployment and exploitation. Features indicating the strength and location of people's social connections in Dar es Salaam before they moved ('pull factors') were found to be most predictive, more so than traditional 'push factors' such as proxies for poverty in the migrant's source region.

Media is everywhere and we live immerse “in” it (Deuze, 2012). Interface design is working on diluting boundaries between human and machines (HCI), incorporating the devices in our daily life by ful lling our motivations and, at the same time, generating interactions to arise them.
Wonder, love, hate, desire, joy, and sadness; the six primary passions of the soul described by Descartes (1649) are increasingly incorporated in the mobile interface design and construction of messages, altering the way our brain, and speci cally our memory, deals with general content and personal data.
It has already been proven the connection between emotions and health, being our brain the technology that links both (MIT). Also it has been recently demonstrated the relation between memories and place – process of episodic memory formation - (Meyer, 2014). Then, we have wearable technologies and media life, o ering constant motivations to our desires and feelings. Therefore, as much as they could ful ll them, we would incorporate them too in our routine. Thus, emotion and motivation seem to be key elements and technologies should work as our brain to stablish the proper connection between users and interfaces.

This paper simulates and investigates the performance of four widely-used channel estimation techniques for MIMO-OFDM wireless communication systems; namely, super imposed pilot (SIP), comb-type, space-time block coding (STBC), and space-frequency block coding (SFBC) techniques. The performance is evaluated through a number of MATLab simulations, where the bit-error rate (BER) and the mean square error (MSE) are estimated and compared for different levels of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The simulation results demonstrate that the comb-type channel estimation and the SIP techniques overwhelmed the performance of the STFC and STBC techniques in terms of both bit-error rate (BER) and mean square error (MSE).

This study contributes to intellectual discuss on consumer preference and satisfaction for GSM service providers in the context of students of tertiary institution in Lagos State, Nigeria. Using primary data, the study provide answer to four research questions and tested four hypotheses with a view to establish the influence of consumers' preference and satisfaction of GSM service providers in Nigeria. The findings revealed a significant positive relationship between service assurance, service empathy, service reliability, service responsiveness and customers' satisfaction of GSM service provision among students of tertiary institution in Lagos State. Also, the study also indicated that all variables accounted for 64% of the variance in service satisfaction (R 2 = .645; F = 20.400, P = .000). Nonetheless, service reliability (β = .267, t = 3.439, p = .001) was found to have the greatest influence on service satisfaction followed by service assurance (β = .170, t = 2.987, p = .005) and service responsiveness (β = .135, t = 2.056, p = .046). On the other hand, only service empathy was not found to have influence service satisfaction.

Modern wireless communication like 5G systems are expected to serve a wider range of scenarios than current mobile communications systems. One of the major network applications related to 5G is Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication that improves vehicle road safety, enhances traffic and travel efficiency, and provides convenience and comfort for passengers and drivers. However, supporting high mobility is a challenge on the air interface. Accordingly, more multicar modulation as multiple access is used to enhance the connection between vehicles and to overcome this challenge. In this paper, two multicarrier modulations are simulated. The first one is the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) while the second one is the Filter Bank Multi-Carrier with Offset Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (FBMC/OQAM) which is called FBMC. Simulation results show that all waveforms have comparable BER performance. The throughput of the FBMC is greater than the OFDM and the spectral efficiency is increased according to the use of the OQAM modulation. The FBMC throughput reaches 5 Mbps while the OFDM reaches 4 Mbps; these results are due to the higher usable bandwidth and because of using filters in FBMC which reduces the effect of Cyclic Prefix (CP) on the signal especially when CP is large in OFDM.
