his study investigates the relationship between changing gasoline prices and drunk-driving crashes. Specifically, we examine the effects of gasoline prices on drunk-driving crashes in Mississippi by age, gender, and race from 2004Ð2008, a period experiencing great fluctuation in gasoline prices. An exploratory visualization by graphs shows that higher gasoline prices are generally associated with fewer drunk-driving crashes. Higher gasoline prices

As with ill health in general, the conventional wisdom is that mental illnesses are more prevalent in urban settings. This assumption has meant that there has been a paucity of literature documenting the mental health needs of rural and remote communities. For example, the present literature on psychiatric inpatient admissions in Ireland is essentially a descriptive overview of psychiatric services at both the national and county level–their activity; an outline of the current services or planned changes to the structure and ...

The present world is a result of advancement and continuous change in technology. The automobile industries are trying to improvise with dynamic features by accepting new technology. Nowadays, vehicle owners are more interested in the speed of the vehicle. But as speed increases, the same results in decrease in safety. But the advanced technology like Adaptive Cruise Control controls every section of the car and provides safety and comfort. Results from this report show a budget aftermarket adaptive cruise control system is feasible and should be continued with further research. A prototype demonstration unit is being implemented. Full testing of the system will be carried out using a model car to simulate traffic in front. This system will be able to adapt to the simulated changes in traffic, and react with according braking and accelerating levels.

The aim of this study is to present a description of the meaning of work by analysing the thoughts of young people on working, work, business life and success. The data were collected with 15 fill-in-the-blank questions given to 21 students in the university elective Int-roduction to Professional Working Life course at a foundation university. Later, the inquiries used in the call for the issue of Reflective magazine with the theme “ Working, not working, unable to work” were added to this questionnaire and data were collected from 3 more students studying in Turkey and continuing their higher education in Europe. The data were coded and analyzed with the help of MAXQDA qualitative data analysis program and implications have been made on things that cannot be tolerated in business, study, business life, fears while looking for a job, etc. We can say that the young people participating in the research generally attribute posi-tive meanings to work/business, they are hopeful for success through working, they are afraid of being unemployed, and the meaning of working for them is a matter of survival rather than self-actualization

This paper starts from the now widely-held premise that biodiversity conservation ought to take place both inside and outside protected areas if biodiversity targets are to be met. Given the potential inter-linkages of areas inside and outside protected areas in ecosystems, the ultimate structure of biodiversity conservation should be bioregional landscape management. A framework for studying the factors affecting biodiversity

OVERVIEW To understand the contemporary life of Indigenous Australians, a historical and cultural background is essential. This chapter sets the context for further discussions about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and issues related to their social and emotional wellbeing and mental health. The history of colonisation is addressed, the subsequent devastation of Indigenous Australians, and their resilience and struggle to claim equality and cultural recognition, and to shape the present. Indigenous Australia is made up of two cultural groups who have shared the same struggle, yet often when using the term Indigenous, a Torres Strait Islander history is absent. In this chapter both cultures are equally presented. Brief overviews are given of pre-contact times, colonisation, resistance and adaptation, shifting government policies, and the struggle for recognition. Indigenous identity and meanings of belonging in country, community and family are also briefly covered. Cont...

The classical version of early development by psychoanalysis has been largely challenged by developmental psychology, and particularly by attachment theory. Psychopathology appears to be much more linked with a sequence of events involving interpersonal relationship disorders rather than with intra psychic conflicts, as hypothesised by drive theory. Establishing synchrony between parent and infant is probably one of the major tasks
