The majority of social science studies on self-driving vehicles has focused on accepting technology using a methodology that investigates direct relationships only. However, there is an increasing demand for an in-depth social analysis of self-driving vehicle acceptance, exploring more complex relationships. Here, this challenge is responded to by the statistical modelling of the acceptance of self-driving technology, allowing for an exploration of the direct and indirect relationships among the relevant variables. Most previous studies have also been conducted in developed countries, and limited information is available on the acceptance of self-driving technology in less-developed countries.
The present study constructs an explanatory statistical model of the Hungarian population’s concept of self-driving vehicles based on a representative sample of 1,001 participants. Furthermore, a graphical representation of the model is provided. The main results include the determination of the most influential factors on the acceptance of self-driving vehicles and the attribution of direct and indirect relationships among the variables, thus providing deeper knowledge than that previously obtained and complementing the currently available research results. Based on our results, the expected advantages of self-driving technology have the greatest direct and total impact on the acceptance of this technology in Hungary. The enthusiasm for new technologies and the expected disadvantages of self-driving technology has a slightly weaker direct and second-largest total impact. Information needs on self-driving technology, awareness of driving support systems, and perceived usefulness of new technologies had a weak but significant direct impact.
The results of our study will provide essential information for the successful integration of self-driving technologies into the innovation systems of less-developed countries.

Purpose-The purpose of this paper is to deepen our understanding of customers' actual internet banking behaviour by combining the construct of technology readiness with the technology acceptance model and demographics, such as age and gender, into one integrated framework. Design/methodology/approach-The customer-specific internet banking acceptance model (CSIBAM) is validated through 435 UK internet banking users. Findings-The results indicate the importance of customer-specific factors in predicting actual behaviour. Technology readiness, age and gender moderate the beliefs-intention relationship. Customers with varying levels of technology-related views and demographics hold different beliefs about technology. The relationship between usefulness and behaviour was stronger for younger males with high levels of optimism and innovativeness (explorers and pioneers), whilst the relationship between ease of use and behaviour was stronger for older females with a high level of discomfort (paranoids and laggards). Practical implications-In today's highly competitive financial services market, knowledge of key customer-specific factors can help banks to enhance customer experience by focusing more on each segment's particular needs. This knowledge would also help managers to decide about the extent to which technology-based systems can be used, the appropriate type of these systems, the pace of implementation, and the type of customer support required. Originality/value-A distinctive contribution of this study is that it does not rely on self-reported intention or usage, but instead it employs actual behavioural data. Greater understanding of seemingly established relationships could improve the design of the service and the development of differential marketing strategies aimed at driving adoption and allaying rejection.

The COVID-19 pandemic disruption has provided opportunities for educators to rethink the effectiveness of technology-enhanced online or hybrid learning globally. This paper employed structural equation modeling (SEM) to examine the acceptance of a Moodle-based plugin, namely JazzQuiz in a hybrid Computer Science course from a Sino-British English Medium Instruction (EMI) University in China. 246 undergraduate students joined an online survey to share their self-reported perceptions on the use of JazzQuiz for interactive learning from the online and face-to-face learning environments. The findings are corresponding to the existing technology acceptance literature and validated the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model under the Chinese higher education context. This paper contributes to the information system literature and educational technology literature by confirming the model validation and providing valuable practical implications for effective hybrid learning and teaching in computer science education.

With the current emerging development pattern in Malaysia, E-Government has been unveiled by the Malaysian Government to be one of the multimedia super corridor flagship applications to implement digital technology to improve government operations. Eprocurement was originally utilized by businesses to minimize turnaround times and prices, but recently it was often used as a platform for sustainable procurement. However, there have been few attempts to investigate E-procurement technology in Malaysia concerning sustainable procurement. Also, there is no consistent and reliable framework of Eprocurement technology for sustainable procurement practices. The focal area of this research is ISO 14001 accredited firms in Malaysia, the population of these organizations is 55, sample size (N)=162 respondents including procurement managers, executives and staff which are involved directly or indirectly in the process of procuring products and services. This study is conceptual and aims to explore how the adoption of E-procurement technologies influence sustainable procurement practices within ISO 14001 accredited firms in Malaysia.

This research investigates the applicability of Davis' technology acceptance model to user acceptance of a knowledge management information system. It addresses two important questions: "Does the technology acceptance model explain user acceptance and usage of an information system implemented to support knowledge management objectives?" ''Can previous technology acceptance model user acceptance research serve as a basis for investigation of user acceptance of knowledge management information technology systems?" This study provides preliminary evidence that previous information technology acceptance research based on the technology acceptance model, may serve as a foundation for research of knowledge management system user acceptance. Relationships among primary TAM constructs are in substantive agreement with those characteristic of previous TAM research. Significant positive relationships between perceived usefulness, ease of use, and system usage were consistent with previous TAM research. The observed mediating role of perceived usefulness in the relationship between ease of use and usage was also in consonance with earlier findings. The findings are significant because they suggest that the considerable body of previous TAM related information technology research may be usefully applied to the knowledge management domain, and promote further investigation of factors affecting the user acceptance and usage of knowledge management information systems.

The aim of this paper is to propose and test an
empirical model of Romanian SME adoption of online
marketing techniques. In order to meet our objective we have
employed the conceptual framework of the Technology
Acceptance Model and we have adapted it to the purpose of
this study. Romanian SME are willing to use online
marketing techniques if they have a favorable attitude
towards adopting and also if they perceive the usefulness of
employing such techniques. Our model indicates that attitude
and perceived usefulness are positive related to the reported
intention of future use. The attitude towards online marketing
techniques is a function of perceived usefulness and
perceived ease-of-use. Least Square Regression Analysis was
used to test and validate the relationships.

Product-Service Systems (PSS) or Product-as-a-Service (PaaS) have been heralded as one of the ways to achieve sustainable consumption and production. PSS can lower environmental impact and enable the circular economy. However, low consumer acceptance has hindered the success of this business model. This paper analyses what determines consumer acceptance of PSS in the business-to-consumer context. This was done by examining the most important attributes of PSS, how consumers value these attributes and how this is related to their consumers' inherent characteristics. To answer the research questions, 18 interviews were held with PSS experts, that were consecutively complemented with a Discrete Choice Experiment (DCE) among 1061 Dutch consumers. It was found that consumer acceptance of a product-service system was mainly influenced by eleven attributes of a proposition, whereof only seven were directly included in this study on laundry solutions. To show the influence of preferences for a laundry solution, the attributes were investigated on the basis of utility and importance scores. Furthermore, the discrete choice experiment allowed to test for heterogeneity among preferences for a PSS by identifying latent classes. Five different latent classes of consumers were identified, these were then described according to their characteristics. Lastly, this study investigated which consumer characteristics variables had the most effect on the choice for a laundry solution. Future studies should take the utility and importance scores, variables, and latent classes into account, in order to improve the product-market fit with the consumer. This research contributes to a better alignment of consumer needs' with PSS-propositions. Ultimately benefitting the consumer acceptance and adoption of such propositions, increasing the performance of PSS and potentially contributing to the circular economy. [Masterthesis - Anonymized]

Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) have the potential to make motorized transport safer and more sustainable, by integrating clean technologies and supporting flexible shared-mobility services. Leveraging this new form of transport to transform mobility in cities will depend fundamentally on public acceptance of AVs, and the ways in which individuals choose to use them, to meet their daily travel needs. Empirical studies exploring public attitudes towards automated driving technologies and interest in AVs have emerged in the last few years. However, within this strand of research there is a paucity of theory-driven and behaviourally consistent methodologies to unpack the determinants of user adoption decisions with respect to AVs. In this paper, we seek to fill this gap, by advancing and testing four conceptual frameworks which could be deployed to capture the range of possible behavioural influences on individuals’ AV adoption decisions. The frameworks integrate socio-demographic variables and relevant latent behavioural factors, including perceived benefits and perceived ease of use of AVs, public fears and anxieties regarding AVs, subjective norm, perceived behavioural control, and attitudinal factors covering the environment, technology, collaborative consumption, public transit and car ownership. We demonstrate the utility and validity of the frameworks, by translating the latent variables into indicator items in a structured questionnaire, and administering it online to a random sample of adult individuals (n = 507). Using the survey data in confirmatory factor analyses, we specify and demonstrate scale reliability of indicator items, and convergent and discriminant validity of relationships among latent variables. Ultimately, we advance four measurement models. These theory-grounded measurement models are intended for application in research aimed at understanding and predicting (a) AV interest and adoption intentions, and (b) user adoption decisions regarding three different AV modes: ownership, sharing and public transport.

Consumer behavior in e-commerce platforms is one of the extensively researched area. Numerous studies in this field assessed consumer online shopping behavior from various aspects. However, literature review showed that most of the conducted studies do not carry out market segmentation analysis while accessing shopping behavior of online consumers. Therefore, the general conclusions made by these studies about consumer attitude, behavior, and decision-making process might not reflect actual behaviors of different consumer segments. In contrast to previous studies, this study initially carried out psychographic market segmentation analysis and found four different online consumer segments. Later, shopping behavior of each determined segment was assessed by using the developed behavior evaluation model. Findings of this study provide important information to e-retailers about the behavioral characteristics of each consumer segment. E-retailers can utilize this study findings to effectively allocate their marketing resources and design more successful marketing mix for each consumer segment.

Older adults around the world experience physical, psychological, social and economic issues that hinder their learning processes, performance in simple daily activities and other factors that facilitate a healthy lifestyle. Human factors associated with ageing such as poor motor skills, weakening of hearing/eyesight, slower reflexes, low stamina and deteriorating attention span/memory obstruct them from using digital tools like younger adults. Although the degree of impact may differ from person to person, these factors could be considered a gradual and dynamic process. In today’s age, it is crucial to be aware of one’s surroundings, to be updated with the latest news, to be improving one’s knowledge and to remain socially connected.
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic made us realize that access to a steady internet is a necessity and not a luxury. In recent years, several communities have observed that older adults find using the internet and technologies challenging. In 2019, statistics by Pew Research Center presented that only 53% of people aged above 65+ years owned smartphones. The objective of this project is to promote digital literacy and to empower and build confidence among older adults. This research will provide insights and factual data and introduce strategies to improve human-centred design services specific to the older population intended to help them in the process of embracing modern technology. Surveying the current research on the issues regarding the challenges older adult’s face while using technology, the research outcome involves an accessible online publication specifically tailored for the target user demographic, to teach them how to use technology.

This study analyzes the integration of an educational technology platform and relates the difficulties faced amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. Initially, we sought to identify the chief barriers educators face when considering the adoption of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Factors influencing primary and secondary education teachers’ (n = 15) and students’ (n = 335) perspectives on ICT integration for mathematics instruction were identified and analyzed from the perspective of different contexts (school vs home) and circumstances (in-person vs remote learning). Although we acknowledge the need for immediate decisions by educational stakeholders to facilitate online learning, our findings indicate the necessity of (a) careful examination of the features of potential platforms or tools and (b) a trial of such features prior to integration within an educational system. From an instructional design perspective, educational technologists should pay
special attention to the degree of gamification, especially beyond the primary school level, as it may negatively impact incentives for student interaction and engagement. Where possible, the integration of technology should be driven by pedagogical goals and not technological pressures.

The purpose of this paper is to gain a better understanding of
user acceptance of Biometric Technologies (BT) at outdoor
music festivals in the United Kingdom. While research on such
technologies, such as facial recognition is limited in the events
context, they have already been deployed at music festivals to
deal with issues of security, safety and crowd management.
Using an extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), a
self-administered questionnaire was completed by young
adults in the United Kingdom who had previously been to a
music festival. The study found factors such as privacy, reliability and accuracy did not have a significant impact on user
acceptance. Other factors, such as trust, compatibility and convenience were found to have a significant positive impact on
perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and attitude to
use. As the findings indicate that accuracy and privacy do not
impact BT acceptance, the paper explores how organizers can
be transparent and accountable as to their intentions to use
BT, so as to justify the usefulness of BT to attendees, artists,
regulators and authorities.

This paper investigates the outcomes of e-learning systems adoption and use by conceptualizing three elearning systems adoption outcome constructs namely perceived learning assistance, perceived community building assistance and perceived academic performance. Utilizing these constructs, the paper proposes a research model for assessing the possible outcomes of e-learning systems adoption and use. The study collected longitudinal survey data from 249 university students participating in hybrid courses using a popular learning management system, Moodle. Partial least squares (PLS) approach was then used to test the research model. The findings suggest that beliefs about perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, and how an elearning system is used influence students' perceived learning assistance and perceived community building assistance. In turn, perceived learning assistance and perceived community building assistance influence the students' perceived academic performance.

Purpose -This paper is the second of two concerned with a meta-analysis of the technology acceptance model (TAM). This part aims to present a rigorous and quantitative meta-analytic review of 569 findings from 95 TAM studies as a basis for identifying gaps and providing guidelines for implementation management and conduct of future research. The paper also seeks to investigate the potential impact of methodological characteristics on the meta-analytic findings. Design/methodology/approach -The approach consists of meta-analysis following Hedges and Olkin's procedures, moderator-analysis using homogeneity Q-values, analogue to ANOVA and weighted regression method. Findings -The dominant focus in empirical investigations of the TAM has been on modelling intention for its effect on self-reported usage behaviour, while the attitudinal construct has been neglected. This raises three questions: whether the exclusion of attitude from the TAM is beneficial for understanding of technology usage behaviour in mandatory settings; whether the revised TAM holds equally for mandatory and voluntary settings; and whether the emphasis on measuring intentions and self-report use rather than actual usage is warranted. An additional question answered in the meta-analysis is about the relative importance of PU and PEOU. Originality/value -The paper provides a rigorous meta-analysis to progress towards a unified view of the TAM.

This study seeks to explore the effect of fear emotion on students' and teachers' technology adoption during COVID-19 pandemic. The study has made use of Google Meet© as an educational social platform in private higher education institutes. The data obtained from the study were analyzed by using the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) and machine learning algorithms. The main hypotheses of this study are related to the effect of COVID-19 on the adoption of Google Meet as COVID-19 rise s various types of fear. During the Coronavirus pandemic, fear due to family lockdown situation, fear of education failure and fear of losing social relationships are the most common types of threat that may face students and teachers/educators. These types of fears are connected with two important factors within TAM theory, which are: perceived ease of use (PEOU) and perceived usefulness (PU), and with another external factor of TAM, which is subjective norm (SN). The results revealed that both data analysis techniques have successfully provided support to all the hypothesized relationships of the research model. More interesting, the J48 classifier has performed better than the other classifiers in predicting the dependent variable in most cases.

The objective of the study is to find out the factors which affect the acceptance of E-learning among students and how the students' purpose of using E-learning is determined by these factors. The research was based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The researcher developed a questionnaire to gather data from a sample of 366 university students who actively used the E-learning system. According to the results of the study, subjective norms, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, enjoyment, and accessibility" are the vital predicators behind the intention of students for using E-learning systems. This indicates that extended TAM is applicable in the UAE. The results show that policymakers and education developers should take E-learning system seriously since it can be opted not just as a technological solution but also as a learning platform for students belonging to a distant area. The results present practical implications for education developers, policymakers and practitioners in devising useful plans to implement E-learning systems.

Immense usage of internet and enormous penetration of smart phones provide opportunity for banks to develop technology based banking system. Banks are settled about it and allocating high percent of budget to develop net banking service. However the lower adoption rate of net banking is being the area in which extensive research is required. Taking this into consideration and prior research in technology acceptance with respect to adoption of net-banking and in order to understand and validate the existing theories related to factors affecting individuals for use of net-banking facilities. The proposed model is based on TAM, to study student's behavioural intention to use net banking by employing perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and attitude as original determinants with extended determinants which include trust, social influence, perceived risk and perceived self-efficacy.

This study aims to investigate the factors that affect the usage of voice-activated personal assistants VAPA which are mobile device applications such as Siri, Google Now, S Voice, Cortana, Alexa, etc. A theoretical framework is proposed based on the relative technology acceptance model constructs in the light of literature. Data are collected from a total of 183 people with a survey questionnaire. Structural equation modelling SEM was applied as the major statistical technique for data analysis. The proposed model has the potential to help technology companies to understand some of the factors influencing user' behaviors and attitudes toward VAPA and improve the technology quality. There are few researches about voice-activated technology adoption in the literature and this is first paper that proposes a research model for acceptance of VAPA.

This study explores the factors that affect students' adoption of Twitter as an information source. It relies on a modified technology acceptance model (TAM). Data were gathered using a survey of 400 social sciences students from Kuwait University. Structural equation modeling was employed to examine the proposed relationships of six factors—perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment, social influence, behavioral intention, and actual use—on Twitter usage as an information source. The findings show that perceived enjoyment and social influence are stronger predictors of behavioral intention than perceived usefulness. Conversely, perceived ease of use was not significant antecedents of behavioral intention. The study also found that perceived ease of use influences only by perceived enjoyment. As expected, behavioral intention was an important antecedent of actual use. This study was limited to students of the College of Social Sciences at Kuwait University. Additional studies on the use of social media as an information source are recommended. This study is beneficial for higher educational institutions and academic libraries eager to understand the factors that motivate student adoption of Twitter as an information source for educational purposes.

This study investigates the influence of student social media usage on the acceptance of e-learning platforms at the British University in Dubai. A modified Technology Acceptance Model was developed and validated for the quantitative study, which comprised data collected from 410 graduate and postgraduate students via an electronic questionnaire. The findings showed that knowledge sharing, social media features and motivation to use social media systems, including Facebook YouTube and Twitter, positively affected the perceived usefulness and perceived ease-of-use of e-learning platforms, which, in turn, led to increased e-learning platform acceptance by students. The research model can be adapted to similar studies to assist in further research regarding how higher-education institutions in the UAE can maximize the benefits and uptake of e-learning platforms.

State government has been moving from manual and paper-based processes to digital services. However, digital divide, declining trust in technology, and low IT/IS adoption rates by public sector employees are important challenges for successful delivery of e-government services to citizens. Previous studies in the area of IT/IS adoption and e-government have mainly focused on citizens. This paper examines IT/IS adoption by employees rather than citizens and the focus is on non-market environment and state government agencies. A research model has been proposed based on the theory of planned behavior (TPB) and technology acceptance model (TAM) which has been extended to include digital divide related constructs and trust in technology. To test the proposed model, a survey was conducted among early adopters of Office 365 at Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) in Springfield and Chicago. The paper contributes to research on IT/IS adoption in public sector. The findings also provide insightful design and practical implications for successful IT/IS deployment in public sector.

A separate and distinct interaction with both the actual e-vendor and with its IT Web site interface is at the heart of online shopping. Previous research has established, accordingly, that online purchase intentions are the product of both consumer assessments of the IT itself^specifically its perceived usefulness and ease-of-use (TAM}-and trust in the e-vendor. But these perspectives have been examined independently by IS researchers. Integrating these two perspectives and examining the factors that build online trust in an environment that lacks the typical human interaction that often leads to trust in other circumstances advances our understanding of these constructs and their linkages to behavior.

The rapid development of technology has drastically changed the way consumers do their shopping. The volume of global online commerce has significantly been increasing partly due to the recent COVID-19 crisis that has accelerated the expansion of e-commerce. A growing number of webshops integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI), state-of-the-art technology into their stores to improve customer experience, satisfaction and loyalty. However, little research has been done to verify the process of how consumers adopt and use AI-powered webshops. Using the technology acceptance model (TAM) as a theoretical background, this study addresses the question of trust and consumer acceptance of Artificial Intelligence in online retail. An online survey in Hungary was conducted to build a database of 439 respondents for this study. To analyse data, structural equation modelling (SEM) was used. After the respecification of the initial theoretical model, a nested model, which was also based on TAM, was developed and tested. The widely used TAM was found to be a suitable theoretical model for investigating consumer acceptance of the use of Artificial Intelligence in online shopping. Trust was found to be one of the key factors influencing consumer attitudes towards Artificial Intelligence. Perceived usefulness as the other key factor in attitudes and behavioural intention was found to be more important than the perceived ease of use. These findings offer valuable implications for webshop owners to increase customer acceptance.

In research about digital game-based learning, the likely negative perceptions of parents are often enlisted as a barrier toward the adoption of games in classroom settings. Teachers, students and policy makers appear to be influenced by what parents think about games in the classroom. Therefore, it is important to study these parental beliefs about games. The present research develops and validates a path model to explain and predict parental acceptation of video games in the classrooms of their
children. The hypothetical model was found reliable and valid, based on a survey of 858 parents with at least one child in secondary education. Overall, the results show that 59% of the variance in parents’ preference for video games can be explained by the model comprising hypotheses about learning opportunities, subjective norm, perceived negative effects of gaming, experience with video games, personal innovativeness, and gender.

In this chapter, the authors performed an analysis of the data extracted from 39 peer-reviewed scientific publications between 2015 and 2018 describing users' adoption of various mobile payment systems encompassing methods, technologies, adoption models, theories, variables of the adoption models and theories, as well as significant adoption factors. The analysis demonstrates that the technology acceptance model (TAM) is the most popular model to investigate users' adoption of mobile payment. Both the original and extended versions of TAM are studied broadly to examine the individual's intention to adopt mobile payment. In addition, the analysis of the results from this chapter demonstrates perceived compatibility has the strongest positive impact on the intention to use mobile payment technology whereas perceived risk has a negative relationship with the intention to use mobile payment technology.

Social media websites have created valuable opportunities for electronic word of mouth (eWOM) conversations. People are now able to discuss products and services of brands with their friends and acquaintances. The aim of this study is to examine the influence of these conversations in social media on consumers' purchase intentions. For this purpose, a conceptual model was developed based on the integration of Information Adoption Model (IAM) and related components of Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA). The new model, which is named as Information Acceptance Model (IACM), was validated through structural equation modelling (SEM) based on surveys of 384 university students who use social media websites. The results confirm that quality, credibility, usefulness and adoption of information, needs of information and attitude towards information are the key factors of eWOM in social media that influence consumers' purchase intentions. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed as well as recommendations for further research.

The 21 st century has brought about transformational and a rapid change in technological, political, and economic sectors in an effort to provide an improved customer service, selfservice technologies (SST) were introduced in fuel stations globally. SST have redefined the nature of services and how service value is created. Self-service fuel stations (SSFS) first became popular in America around the 1930's. Developing countries such as South Africa have not implemented SST in fuel stations, embracing this service has been a challenge in the past. This study aimed to better understand consumer attitudes and intentions towards the adoption of self-service fuel stations in Johannesburg, South Africa. The study was quantitative in nature and adopted an online survey which was administered to 300 willing participants. The overall results show that motorists have a favourable attitude towards the adoption and implementation of SSFS in Johannesburg, South Africa. Motorists believe if they can observe a present relative advantage of the SSTin fuel stations and in-turn perceive the technology as useful to them, then they are willing and intend to adopt SSFS. This study was an attempt to explore perspectives of Johannesburg motorists' attitudes and intentions towards the adoption of SSFS in the best way possible. A critical element of the research was provided to the fuel station owners and stakeholders to be able to come up with a structure that is solid and recognizable to bring forth the idea. As the current situation or status regarding SSFS is prohibited and no consumers are allowed to dispense fuel or diesel at the fuel station without the help of the petrol attendant. This research may enlighten by substantiating that the introduction of SSFS possibly will be achievable in Johannesburg grounded on the positive insights of motorists.

With the end of its 30-year civil war, Sri Lanka is on the path to revitalize its economy. In this endeavor, small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play a crucial role. Like all businesses, SMEs can benefit greatly from new e-commerce technology, a fact that has motivated many of them to establish their presence online through company websites. Sri Lankan users, however, are reluctant to adopt this technology. Little research has been done regarding factors that affect the adoption of e-commerce among Sri Lankan consumers. This study examines factors that affect consumer buying behavior, with a view to helping Sri Lankan SMEs attract and retain customers through online transactions. Based on an extensive literature review, the study formulated six hypotheses and developed a proposed framework for successful adoption of online SMEs from the consumer's perspective. The methodology included a simple random sampling approach for an online survey of 408 Internet users in Sri Lanka. The data collected was analyzed using SPSS. The results indicate that all six hypotheses are supported.
